J. Tracy Power (Ph.D., University of South Carolina) is an associate professor of History and college archivist at Newberry College, Newberry, S.C. Power, a historian in the State Historic Preservation Office at the South Carolina Department of Archives and History 1986-2013, is the author of the award-winning Lee's Miserables: Life in the Army of Northern Virginia from the Wilderness to Appomattox (U. of N.C. Press, 1998). He is also the author of I Will Not Be Silent And I Will Be Heard: Martin Luther King, Jr., the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, and Penn Center, 1964-1967 (S.C.
