Topics Mentioning This Author

Joseph Conrad
“the mind of man is capable of anything--because everything is in it, all the past as well as the future”
Joseph Conrad, Heart of Darkness

Kurt Vonnegut Jr.
“If you want to really hurt you parents, and you don't have the nerve to be gay, the least you can do is go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possible can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something.”
Kurt Vonnegut, A Man Without a Country

Charles Bukowski
“Genius could be the ability to say a profound thing in a simple way, or even to say a simple thing in a simpler way.”
Charles Bukowski, Portions from a Wine-Stained Notebook: Uncollected Stories and Essays, 1944-1990

George Carlin
“People are wonderful. I love individuals. I hate groups of people. I hate a group of people with a 'common purpose'. 'Cause pretty soon they have little hats. And armbands. And fight songs. And a list of people they're going to visit at 3am. So, I dislike and despise groups of people but I love individuals. Every person you look at; you can see the universe in their eyes, if you're really looking.”
George Carlin

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley
“Beware; for I am fearless, and therefore powerful.”
Mary Shelley, Frankenstein
