I initially studied English Literature and Theatre Arts at University then travelled while doing freelance film, video and theatre work and teaching English. Eventually I returned to the UK where I joined an inspirational community of writers on the South Coast. My great grandfather was illustrator Charles Robinson and as a child I read many books illustrated by him so I love fairy tales, especially the Gothic ones! Some of my favourite writers include Angela Carter, Roald Dahl and Samuel Beckett. Also, of course, the book, 'The Uses of Enchantment' by Bruno Bettelheim, is one of my favourites too. ...more

Although I don't get involved in politics, I did want to write about people who seemed very insensitive to the suffering they caused others and to have those characters get a taste of their own medicine, sometimes literally! I love quirky characters and plots and the idea that in the end no one can outsmart mother nature. (less)
