New release - it's here!!!
Whoo hoo! I did it! I went on a writing marathon on my day off and before and after work, and I did it! I beat my deadline of the end of July!
Burn for You is book 1 in the new Gully's Fall BBW Romance series. It's available now on Amazon, All Romance eBooks and Smashwords in different ebook formats. Hopefully be available in Nook and Print soon. I'll let you all know as soon as I do.
As some of you guessed, the hero is a fireman. Now, over here in West Aussie, there are 2 kinds of firemen - the Firies who are in the towns and cities, and the Bushies who are the bushfire mob. I pumped my girlfriend's husband for information, seeing as he's a vollie fire fighter, and he went from being a Firie to a Bushie. Go figure. However, I've taken a few liberties with the story as I didn't want to mix them up, and heck, they live in a small town so I figure that whatever - they are hunky firemen! So I've kept it as authentic as I can. But they're HUNKY FIREMEN and you know what men in uniform do to me!
Sorry, got carried away and started drooling *wiping down keyboard*...and *top of desk*...and *around desk*...
Meanwhile, the big surprise...well, that didn't pan out. Originally, I meant to have this book as two shorter stories, kind of like two novellas. So Gully's Fall was supposed to be a series of duets - two stories in each book. So what happened? I tell you, these characters have a life of their own! Before I knew it, my hero and heroine had gallopped past the word count I'd allowed and turned my novella into a full-length novel!
So it looks like the Gully's Fall series will be full-length novels instead of 2 novellas in each book. Tossed out the Gully's Fall Duet sub title and just went with Gully's Fall
*sigh* I tell you, characters just run rampant sometimes.
Never mind, I guess that means I now have to start working on the next book - another full length novel - in the series!
Just going to have the rest of this week off to catch up on reading and watching some movies ('300: Rise of the Empire' is burning a hole on the bench near the TV waiting for me), then next Mondy I'll start the next book.
For more information on buying, the series, and the remaining three characters I need to write about, it's all on my website www.angelaverdenius.com.
Hope you all enjoy the story!

Ryan's Story Progresses
So, a quick update on how Ryan's book is progressing. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm nearing the middle of it! I know, right? So unexpected. For the last few days it's been unfolding nicely. Mind you, halfway isn't all the way, there's still a distance to go, a story to continue to develop. But it's promising!
On the negative side, the subject is...not nice. Not pleasant. The overall arc is romance, always has been, but the plot line is, well...sobering, I guess is all I can say.
Now I'm finally back at work (yay!), my writing time is cut again, but I keep pecking at it. In fact, I'm writing now at 10:48 in the morning (been at it since 8am,) but have to stop at lunchtime to have something to eat and get ready for work. I'll get home at 10 tonight, then up at 5:30am for an early morning shift - be there by 7am, knock off at 2:30pm if all goes well, then get home, shower and get some more writing hours in before I break to watch Midsummer Murders at 8:30pm. Sorry, have to watch my British Detective TV series!!!
So I'll continue writing, see it pull me along. I'm in one of those mad writing frenzies I get into when the book progresses LOL. I'll keep you posted!

Won the War! & Stuff...
So I won the war against the Army Worms! I blasted them out of existence. Okay, I did feel bad because I believe everything in nature has a place and a job to do, but when they decimate the grass for every other living thing (such as the doves who like to waddle onto it and do *cough* naughty things while on there - and that's apart from pooping on the lawn), then we - me and the Army Worms - have a problem.
I fixed my problem.
I feel a little guilty, but it's fixed. My little patch of lawn is green again, the birds are enjoying it, and it’s wonderful.
What isn't so wonderful is that Bunnings no longer sells the product that works so well. So I had to go on-line to buy more. This irks me, because I like to shop local and keep our people in work, shops in business, etc, but nothing works as well as this stuff, so it's on-line shopping for it now.
On another note - completely different note - Mum was supposed to have the stent removed in Perth. We had flights booked, motel booked, days off work booked - and then when Mum was on the plane there was a technical problem and everyone had to get off - and the flight was cancelled. She was supposed to get into Perth at 9:20am, be at the hospital at 11:30, operated on in the afternoon and out that night. So, of course, that got cancelled as well. After a lot of back and forthing, a new appointment was booked at the hospital for Mum in the very near future, I got the motel re-booked and our travel agent (thank you Hello World!) got our tickets reinstated (thank you Virgin!), and I have more time booked off for the op date. Mum got a little upset because she felt so bad with me taking time off and losing several days, but as I said to her, I'd rather the tech problem was found while they were on the ground and not in the air, and that money can be saved, holidays saved, tickets re-booked, but a life cannot be brought back once it's gone. She means more to me than money. So she's okay now. My nurse manager (thank you, Susan!) has been so supportive of us during this time. We've got great friends who are happy to help out with the furries when needed during this time (thanks Rae and Ker!). I tell you, even though things have been all over the road (what is it with you, Mum, and this gall bladder op and complications post op?!) we've been blessed to come through it, and we're still standing, so we're a-okay!
Today is a day off, I'm sitting here with Diet Coke (I know, you're so surprised, right?) - music playing softly, computer revved up, and ready to continue editing and re-writing this series.
So saying, the first book is becoming a major re-write in some ways. I almost feel like it's partly the old story, but partly a new story as well, if that makes sense. The covers are coming along beautifully, I can't believe how truly awesome they are. And here's the funny bit (or odd, depending on your POV) - while re-writing this first book, I can see the impact it will have in some areas of the second book.
And let's just add, to confuse things even more, I had an idea pop into my head for another contemporary romance and have had to jot those ideas down. Possibly, in the future, there MAY be a new series of contemporary romances as well. I'm just sayin', not promising, but things are sparking in my brain.
I have to say, taking a step-back and taking the time to do this re-write of the old sci-fi romances, has started to get my love back into writing and the creative juices flowing.
I'm striking while the iron's hot! Back to the keyboard now...
