Jak Koke writes and edits from Seattle, where he lives with his partner, Karawynn Long. Jak has authored seven published novels and many short stories under his own name. He has also ghost-written novels and edited manuscripts by other authors. He is currently the Managing Editor of an award-winning small press — Per Aspera Press.

Ghosts of Christmas

Note: I’m republishing a selection of my old journal posts as they are buried in archives and difficult to find (search engines don’t seem to know they exist). This one is still relevant today, even with the ‘kids’ all grown up now.

In 2011, we made a conscious decision to have a frugal Christmas—a choice that resulted in some unexpected benefits, and also unearthed some deep-seated emotions.
