Nació en Ciudad de México el 9 de junio de 1974. Tuvo una breve carrera como actor infantil en televisión y como extra cinematográfico en producciones extranjeras filmadas en México, en los años 80. Inició su carrera profesional como periodista cinematográfico al aparecer sus primeras entrevistas y reseñas cinematográficas en 1996 en el periódico El Universal, con Paco Ignacio Taibo I como su editor. Fue miembro fundador de Mexis, el primer periódico digital lanzado en México en 1998, mismo que posteriormente pasaría convertirse en la plataforma digital To2.com, que se mantuvo vigente hasta 2001.

Desde 2001 y hasta 2017 fue colaborador del diario Milenio Diario donde fungió como crítico de cine y contribuyó numerosas entrevistas al suplement Nació en Ciudad de México el 9 de junio de 1974. Desde 2001 y hasta 2017 fue colaborador del diario Milenio Diario donde fungió como crítico de cine y contribuyó numerosas entrevistas al suplemento dominical del diario con diversas personalidades relacionadas con el cine. Un número de estas entrevistas fueron compiladas en el libro Íntimos Extraños: una colección de conversaciones, publicado en 2006.

Su primera novela, Todas las fiestas de mañana se publicó en 2007, mismo año que emigró a Gijón, Asturias, donde colaboró con el Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón hasta 2013, año de su regreso a México, después de haber publicado con Editorial Impedimenta el libro Pequeño Diccionario de Cinema para Mitómanos Amateur, una compilación sui-géneris de viñetas sobre personalidades del cine internacional. El libro trascendió fronteras y tuvo éxito editorial.

A su retorno a México, incursiona en la dramaturgia, llevando al escenario más de diez obras producidas entre las que destacan Somos eternos, estrenada en 2016 y protagonizada por Irán Castillo y la versión al español de Dogville, de Lars von Trier, misma que tradujo y produjo. También ha colaborado con medios como Univision, Letras Libres, Esquire, Vogue México y Latinoamérica y La Razón.

Asimismo ha mantenido una presencia constante en Internet por medio de sitios literarios, redes sociales y cursos en línea. Es particularmente activo en la red social Twitter. Asimismo ha encabezado los podcasts Linterna Mágica y Moviola, dedicados a la apreciación del cine clásico y la historia detrás de sus rodajes.

En 2020, a través de su perfil de Twitter realizó lecturas de textos para personas en cuarentena debido a la pandemia del coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, leyendo en voz alta relatos de Silvina Ocampo, Julio Cortázar, Carmen Boullosa y Luciano Lamberti, entre otros.

En 2022 su narrativa breve al completo fue reunida en el volumen ilustrado Trampa para Niebla, publicado por Editorial Gato Blanco en México, con una edición autografiada y foliada de 400 ejemplares.

En 2023 su segunda novela, el thriller gótico Corazón caníbal, fue publicada en Barcelona por Editorial Alrevés, y en 2025 Gato Blanco editó Liliput, su tercera novela publicada, misma que también se lanzó en formato audiolibro y agotó su primer tiraje a un mes de su lanzamiento.

Miguel Cane compagina su oficio de escritor como librero, siendo uno de los dueños y operarios de la librería vintage "El Pony de Troya" en la ciudad de México. ...more
