I grew up in the little town of Durant, Oklahoma. Born to a couple of ‘hippies’ determined to make the most of the 60’s and early 70’s it isn’t so surprising that I had a rather dysfunctional childhood and consequently spent a lot of time on my grandparents little farm outside of town. It was in this rural setting in the southeastern part of the state, with its agricultural base and the World’s Largest Peanut, that I learned such simple values as you treat your neighbor (‘neighbor’ being pretty much anyone who lives in town and within a fifty mile radius) as if they were family, leave a place better than you found it and if it’s not yours, don’t touch it.
