“The real problem of humanity is the following: We have paleolithic emotions; medieval institutions; and god-like technology.”
― The Watchman's Rattle: Thinking Our Way Out of Extinction

“In an environment where there are too many choices, too many decisions, too much information, and too many demands on our cognition, it pays to be judicious about the complexity we voluntarily sign up for. When we make the decision to streamline our lives, we also create time and room to think with focus and intent. In a complex world, time to stand back and look at the big picture, time to consider our options more carefully, time to make more deliberate decisions, and time to breathe are necessities for survival.”

“The principles governing the speed at which the human organism can biologically adapt offer us the single greatest insight into why civilizations succeed and fail as well as the most reliable preview of our own destiny.”

“Perhaps the time has come to cease calling it the 'environmentalist' view, as though it were a lobbying effort outside the mainstream of human activity, and to start calling it the real-world view.”

“ Rebecca Costa has a talent to tell stories that illustrate her keen observations and explain important cultural implications as new innovations touch our lives. The future can be manipulated. Some want their creations to adapt to the world. Others like Steve Jobs wanted the world to adapt to them. If you have an insatiable curiosity about the impact of innovation on our world ahead and how the future can be manipulated you will love this book. John Sculley
former CEO of Apple and President of Pepsi-Cola
“ Rebecca Costa has done it again. On the Verge shows how predictive technologies and science are redefining modern leadership. A book certain to make its mark on Capitol Hill. ”George Mitchell
former Senate Majority Leader
“ On the Verge is a terrific jackpot of a book. It is both page-turner entertaining and think-trigger serious about how we—meaning all of us—can get ahead of the many curves out there in our varied lives, liberties and pursuits of happiness. Read it and smile. But mostly read it and plan. ”Jim Lehrer

Hi Rebecca,Thanks for the friend invitation. I see Richard Dawkins is on your favorite author list. You might like to read my book - All the Voices of the Wind to counterbalance your worldview. I'd be glad to send you a free ebook.

Thank you for including me among your friends, Rebecca. It's good that people like yourself are thinking clearly about the problems of environment and social issues. I wish you all success in your work, and in all aspects of your life. All things being connected, I endeavor to focus on the spiritual aspect. Hope you'll have a look at my novel, Song of George: Portrait of an Unlikely Holy Man when you have an opportunity.
Namaste, jesse
Thanks for your friend request, Rebecca, which I happily accept. You seem like an interesting person, as well as an accomplished author, so feel free to tell me more about yourself and perhaps we can grow to become even greater friends. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. My first novel is an unusual murder mystery entitled: FORBIDDEN STEPS.Regards, and have a great day, Ed
