In the summer of 1983, Nelson backpacked across Europe — an adventure that stayed with him for decades and ultimately became the beating heart of his fiction. He later earned his English degree from the University of Texas, where his lifelong passion for writing found its formal footing. From those early travels to his days observing the colorful characters of the Texas Hill Country where he now splits his time, storytelling has been a constant thread throughout his life.
