Peter Doobinin is the author of the dharma book, The Skill of Living, and the novel, Suburban Boy. His writing has appeared in the anthology Commit to Sit; Tricycle; The New York Times, and other publications. Peter was born in 1955 and spent the better part of his formative years in the baby boom suburbs of Long Island. He attended college at the University of Pennsylvania and SUNY Binghamton. After working in the publishing industry for Simon & Schuster for more than twenty years, he left in 1997 to pursue less worldly interests. Today he lives in Berlin, where he writes and teaches meditation. Peter was a co-founder of New York Insight Meditation Center, and in 2002 founded Downtown Meditation Community.
