Just Romance Me Bloghop

Hello everyone!! Welcome to another great bloghop with amazing authors! I'm so glad to have you here again this Valentine's Day. Remeber that we are giving away a new kindle for one lucky hopper and lots of giveaways to others. At anytime click on the above hot guy and it'll take you back to the bloghop.

My third book in my Built Cowgirl Tough Series released and I'm so glad to have a smokin hot excerpt to share with you. Hope it inspires all kinds of love and lust for you!

Chet slung his shirt across the room. What the fuck was he doing? Saige Thomely was standing in his living room naked and willing to screw him. He'd been fantasizing about that scenario for months, yet he'd kissed her and walked away. He fell back on his bed, staring up at the ceiling. Damn, what had he done?

But the quick fuck he'd gotten used to with the women at Minx wasn't what he wanted with Saige. He'd been head over heels since the moment he laid eyes on the petite blonde with haunted blue eyes. It hadn't mattered then that he was screwing her best friend, but now regret edged at his conscience. Still, if he hadn't slept with Billie, he would never have gotten to know anything about Saige, and that would be a shame.

Sighing, he rolled over and dragged his tired and sore body off the bed. The bronc he'd drawn had been another one of Billie's infamous hard-as-hell-to-ride broncs. He'd bucked off in three seconds flat. He shook his head and toed off his brown cowboy boots. The hot summer night had him sweating even inside the apartment. He flipped open the button on his pants. The metal zipper slid down, breaking the silence of his room.

Images of Saige doing it for him filled his head. His cock sprang to attention, not giving a damn that he'd already turned her down. He glanced at the cherry wood door of his bedroom. He should open it, march back to the living room, and take what he wanted more than anything. But the nagging voice in his head that screamed "not yet" wouldn't relent. For once, instead of letting his body rule him, Chet shut down his lust.

THanks Everyone!! Have a Great Valentines Day!

Love is in the Air Bloghop

Hello everyone!! I'm so excited to have a new release that has come out just before Valentines Day. I've never had one hit just at that right romantic time. Books can be great to inspire romance with a partner or all alone, as you'll find out in Rawhide Angel.

With her father's gambling debts about to ruin the family ranch, Saige Thomely is determined to do whatever or whomever it takes to cover the debts. Unfortunately for her, one man is a sure bet, the one cowboy she's tried to ignore for six months. The same cowboy who makes her body and heart flame to life with each look. Saige is prepared to offer herself in exchange for the money to cover the debts, but what she's not prepared for is losing her damaged heart to another cowboy.

Night after night, for half a year, Chet Haskins has dreamed of having the blonde and sexy as sin Saige Thomely in his bed, writhing under him. At long last his dreams might become reality, only Chet's heart wants more than just a few nights of steamy sex. But will the ghost of past relationships come between them? Or can Chet show the passionate Saige he's truly the one to save her ranch and her heart?

Excerpt:

Hooves slammed into the thick arena dirt. Dust billowed around as the horse rocked back and reared. Chet's body slid back, and Saige was sure he'd fall flat on his ass. Instead, he hung on, spurring and sending his bright green chaps whipping up and down with each movement. The pickup man rode by, his horse slinging dirt toward Saige as she leaned over the arena fence to watch Chet jump from the bronc's back. His hat hit the ground, revealing blond hair her hands itched to glide through. No, she couldn't think of Chet Haskins like that. But when he turned, smiling his million-dollar smile, and waved his hands in the air to pump up the crowd, all she yearned to do was beg him to smile at her, just her, that way.Saige bit her lip. She had resisted any and all urges when it came to Chet. So far. But then he stopped, bent to get his hat, and all she could think of was what it would be like for her hands to grip that butt while he thrust into her. A flame ricocheted within her. She burned with desire. It'd been a long time since she'd had sex, and Chet Haskins tempted her with every move he made.

Saige shrunk away from the fence. She had to get away from him, from the lust crawling in her veins. Chet turned again. His eyes met hers. A slow smile tipped his lips. With a wink, he sent her running for her sanity.

Spinning on her heel, she ran from the arena. Fear skittered through her. She'd lost her heart once to a man who risked his life rodeoing. She wouldn't lose her sanity again.

She fled into a small bathroom. Tears pooled in her eyes. No matter what, she swore she'd never give herself to Chet Haskins. She'd lose herself, for sure, and that was something she couldn't allow. Not after everything she'd gone through to rebuild her life.

Chet Haskins was a temptation she couldn't afford, but one she craved beyond life itself.

My Book Boyfriend Giveaway Hop

Happy early Valentine's Day!! So this week we are talking about favorite heroes. Well, I have a lot of them. I write in every genre so I read every genre. When I started reading romance I fell head over heels on Ranger and Morelli from the Stephanie Plum series. After reading and rereading those stories I branched out. Paranormal screamed my name and well, Eric Northman just took over. Charlaine Harris and the Sookie Stackhouse series instantly became my favorite, even after writing a few paranormals of my own.

This past week I released my third novella in my Built Cowgirl Tough series. This last book was my favorite story and has my best hero in it. Chet Haskins is a bronc rider who has a heart of gold. His young carefree life is just a front to keep his deeper compassionate and passionate side a secret. Yet, Chet lets it all go for one woman, the woman he's fallen in love with and can only think about rescuing. He's truly a hero in his own right and I am so proud to have written his character. Here's a taste of Chet's story:

Excerpt:

He kicked his pants off and strode into the large master bath. Marble floors gleamed with a light wax. His maid needed to be paid double for her hard work. The double-sized walk-in shower with jets at twelve points begged him to step inside. He took a deep breath and slid his boxer briefs over his hard-on and to the floor. His socks followed. The aroma of sweaty horse filled the air. Damn, he really did need a shower.

He flipped the jets to the hottest setting that wouldn't burn his skin and stepped into the shower. His body tingled from the heat and the knowledge that Saige was just out of his reach. He closed his eyes and leaned toward the marble wall. The cool surface contrasted with the steaming hot water flowing over him. He clutched a bar of soap. With his eyes still closed, he lathered it between his hands, then rubbed his shoulders and slowly began to relax.

The week had been horrible. When his cousin Hadley had decided to play bull rider after a night of heavy drinking, the dumb bastard had broken his arm and several ribs. Now, Chet was stuck with not only his own half of everyday work but his cousin's workload, too. Not to mention that his assistant Janice had up and quit.

He needed to replace her more than he needed to screw, and keeping Saige as his assistant, would force her to come to terms with the fact she had feelings for him. Add to that, she was smart and he'd seen the paperwork she kept on the hauls she made. She was organized, efficient, and just what he needed in an assistant.

But forty-five thousand dollars for two weeks' work wasn't in the range of an assistant's normal salary. Maybe he would take her up on sex. Hell, it wasn't a bad idea. He knew by the way he talked to her and her face flushed, nipples pebbled, and her breath hitched that she wanted him. God knew he needed to relax, and just maybe Saige could ease his tension.

If his parents caught wind that he was temporarily in control of his grandfather's business, they'd try to get a court order to try and take it back. Damn the old man for ever leaving it to him. If his grandfather had given the business free and clear to Hadley, then their relatives could never touch the money or business. Instead, the old man had split the business three ways—twenty-five percent each to Chet and his cousin and fifty to the foundation Chet's parents oversaw. The foundation wanted the full profit from the international construction company his grandfather had built.

Jets of water pounded his flesh, but they did nothing to relax him. His mind was on all the "what ifs" of his life. Most men at twenty-three were still partying and hell raising. Chet had been doing just that until almost six months ago. When his grandfather died, Chet had been forced to grow up. Now the pounding of the spray only echoed the pounding of his stress headache.

No matter how much he wanted to put off going back out to face Saige, he had to. He was going to have the worst case of blue balls ever, but he'd already sealed his fate. She was surely pissed off or hurt by his refusal to fuck her for money. Just the thought of her writhing while he drove his cock into her had him aching to touch her.

He spun around, letting the water run down to his cock. With one hand, he grasped the soap again and wrapped the base of his shaft in a firm grip. Maybe relieving some of the pressure before facing her again wasn't a bad idea.

"You know, I can do that so much better."

My Favorite Heroes Bloghop!!

Happy early Valentine's Day!! So this week we are talking about favorite heroes. Well, I have a lot of them. I write in every genre so I read every genre.

Excerpt:

Rawhide Angel is Released

Hello everyone!! Wow, I can't believe it's finally here! Rawhide Angel is now out for readers every where! I've written a lot of titles and many thousands of words on works in progress but honestly, Chet and Saige's story is my favorite. I love these characters and as I say goodbye to them and open up a new chapter for their friends I hope you will enjoy the journey!

But when he turned, smiling his million-dollar smile, and waved his hands in the air to pump up the crowd, all she yearned to do was beg him to smile at her, just her, that way.

Saige bit her lip.

Young Frankenstein and Jillian Chantal

image

Ok, so today we have one of my favorite people in the world! I have a group blog called the Southern Sizzle Romance. There seven of us local gals blog together. Today I am so lucky to have one of them with us. Please welcome, Jillian Chantal

Thanks to Sayde for having me pop in and visit today. She's one of my favorite people because she always has my back and has talked me off the ledge a few times when I was ready to jump ship. Yes, that was a mixed metaphor but that's my life most of the time.

October is my absolute favorite time of year. It's such a fun filled month. It cools off here in Northwest Florida to the point that we can stand to be outside for longer than two and a half minutes.

I like to tease Sayde about football season as she is a rabid Bama fan. I know how they can be. I live with one myself. Don't get me wrong. I like football, but I also find it pretty amusing to watch the antics of the fans. My in-laws are usually all spun up about the games, too. I sit back, eat my nachos and giggle at them. Sometimes the spouse has to be locked in a closed room because he's so loud. If they're losing, he's screaming at them for being stupid and if they're winning, he's coaching them and yelling about how wonderful that particular play was. Crazy world.

I also adore Halloween and all the things related to that holiday. One of my favorite old movies is Young Frankenstein. Now, I watch that sucker all year long and quote lines from it almost weekly, but this time of year, it's a must-watch. I can't tell you which line is the best, but I love the one about "Abby Normal" and the whole sequence where they talk about "put the candle back." It's really interesting how these quotes can be worked into everyday conversation. Try it. You'll be amazed how they segue into the conversation.

An interesting tidbit that may just be urban myth is that the line "walk this way" near the beginning where Igor walks down the steps and Dr. Frankenstein mimics him inspired Steven Tyler of Aerosmith to write the "walk this way" song. The story goes that the band took a break and went to see the film and Steven wrote the song the very next morning. I hope that's true because I love to take inspiration for my own writing from things I see and hear and I'd like to think song writers do the same.

I hope you all have a happy October and Halloween. Catch a fun flick or maybe a scary one and get into the spirit of things- And yeah, I intended to make that pun!

Thanks again Sayde, for having me. I can be found on the web here: http://jillianchantal.com/

Guest Blogger, Danica Avet!!

Hello everyone! A few years ago I took notice of this commenter on one of my group blogs. She commented daily and was so supportive. Turns out she is a fantastic author and very funny. I had the chance to sped time with todays guest blogger and can say without doubt that Danica Avet will one day rule the writing world! Watch out! So without further babbling here is todays guest:

Thanks for having me over, Sayde!

I like to avoid the same old song and dance. Mostly because I'm a terrible dancer. No, honestly. I played music in high school and college, but if you asked me to perform some simple dance…well, you'd soon learn that just because I was in band didn't mean I have rhythm.

When it comes to writing (or reading), I like something fresh. Granted I read somewhere that there is no new theme in books. Considering the written word has been around since man figured out how to use their opposable thumbs, it makes sense. So how does a writer ever come up with something that will interest readers, editors, and/or agents?

1. Remake an old legend/myth. Instead of making your vampires drink blood, have them drink emotions (like Lucian did in Ruby: Uncut and on the Loose). My nymphs weren't real nymphomaniacs. They could only have one lover. Ever. Forever and ever and ever. Yes, talk about choosing "Mr. Right". My fairies didn't drink dew and dance around whatever they're supposed to dance around. My fairy (Lifestyles of the Fey and Dangerous) was an assassin who gathered power from the moon and ate like an offensive lineman. See? There are all sorts of ways you can take an old story, creature of myth, etc. and make it your own.

2. Turn a true historical event into something completely different. For instance, in Succubus-in-Waiting, the Great Fire of London (1666) didn't come about because of a careless baker. No, it involved a rivalry between a nymph and a succubus where someone threw someone else's bonnet into a stove and, well…burned down London. Fun!

3. For wit have your characters say all the things you wish you could say. In Ain't No Bull, I channeled my less-than-polite self for my heroine's inspiration. Izzy says all the things I wish I could say, but wouldn't because my mom would slap my mouth (and she wouldn't care how old I am). Characters are excellent ways to exorcise frustration and stress. Trust me. I haven't felt this stress free since I started my first book.

Writing can be fun. It can also be irritating and frustrating and make you wonder why you thought it would be fun in the first place, but when all's said and done…there's nothing better. What do you like to see in a book?

About me:

Danica Avet lives and writes in the wilds of South Louisiana. Unmarried with no children, she's the proud pet of two cats and a dog. With a BA in History, she decided there were enough fry cooks in the world and tried her hand at writing.

Author of the Veil series with Siren Publishing, Danica loves losing herself in the antics of her characters and blushes more often than not at the things they do. She likes to define her work as paranormal romance with a touch of Cajun spice, but most times her characters turn the notch up to "five-alarm fire"! She's represented by Nalini Akolekar of Spencerhill Associates, Ltd. and she adores hearing from her readers.

Vanessa Kelly and her Secret Identity

Hello everyone!! Ok, I believe I have mentioned once or twice that I love reading historical romances. I do. They are my favourite guilty pleasure. And whats better is that I have one of my favourite authors here today!! Vanessa Kelly!

MY SECRET IDENTITY

I'm so happy to be spending this lovely fall day with Sayde and her readers.  Thanks for inviting me on, girlfriend!

I'd like to talk about secrets today because secrets seem to be a pretty big part of my writing life.  In my latest Regency-set historical romance, My Favorite Countess, my heroine keeps lots of secrets, including hiding her true nature from most everyone she knows.  To the world, Bathsheba is a beautiful but hard-hearted woman who cares for no one but herself.  She does very little to dispel that impression as she sweeps through the ton, levelling people right and left with her scathing intellect and devastating wit.  Trust me.  If you get on Bathsheba's bad side, you'll be sorry!

Why the heck, you may ask, did I make this type of woman the heroine of my book?  It's because of her secrets.  You see, Bathsheba first appeared as the villainess of my second book, Sex And The Single Earl, (this is Sayde, I so adore this book!!!) but even then the reasons for her rather nefarious actions seemed motivated by something more than greed or selfishness.  As I went deeper into her character I discovered those motivations—she is fiercely loyal to her family, and is determined to protect them from hardship at all costs.  Bathsheba suffered several tragedies when she was young, tragedies that made her responsible for the well-being of those who are not as strong as she.  She'll do what she has to in order to keep them safe, and the hell with what others might think of her.

Bathsheba has a lot of pride, too.  So rather than beg for help or reveal the scandals in her past, she's created a diamond-hard facade to protect herself and her family from the discovery of those secrets.  Most people can't see past her facade, but one man can.  Yep.  He's my hero—the intelligent, noble-minded, and very sexy doctor, John Blackmore.  As a man who has devoted his life to helping those in need, John is determined to get past Bathsheba's secrets to find the woman within.  Bathsheba, naturally, wants nothing of that, but John proves to be her Achilles' heel.  Their encounters are passionate and deeply felt and I loved writing about them.

Here's another secret for you.  I write my historical romances as Vanessa Kelly, but did you know I also write sexy contemporary romances with my husband under the pen name of V.K. Sykes?  It's a long story as to how this partnership came about, but let me just say that my hubby's early retirement had something to do with it.  There are few things more troublesome than a man underfoot with too much time on his hands, so I decided to put him to work.  Thankfully, we've had lots of fun writing stories together so, in this case, having a secret identity has worked out very well.

Secret identities notwithstanding, there are a few elements I always insist on in my stories.  I want them to be exciting, and star strong-willed, intelligent women and very sexy alpha males.  You'll find these types of characters in both My Favorite Countess, and in my latest V.K. Sykes book, Hardball.  And, I'm happy to say, more than a few secrets to add some spice to the mix!

What about you, readers?  Do you like books that contain lots of secrets?  Do you crave heroes that are dark and mysterious, and drive the heroine crazy?  And what about all those secret baby stories—love or hate?  One person who comments will win a copy of My Favorite Countess, and another person will win a copy of Hardball.

Vanessa Kelly writes Regency-set historical romance for Kensington Zebra, and has been named by Booklist as "one of the new stars of historical romance."  She recently won the Maggie Award for Best Historical Romance for her second book, Sex And The Single Earl.  You can find her on the web at:  www.vanessakellyauthor.com.  You can find her secret identity on the web at:  www.vksykes.com

Jousting 101 with guest blogger, Michelle Miles

Hello everyone! Welcome to another great day of guest blogging. I am so thrilled to have such wonderful guests this month. We get to read so much interesting items!! So, welcome author Michelle Miles. I will post the pcitures later, I can't pull the pictures up right now. Im sooo sorry.

    Jousting 101

By Michelle Miles

I'd like to thank the lovely Ms. Dorough for inviting me here today!

I'm excited to talk about my latest release, One Knight Only. It's an historical with paranormal elements set in the Middle Ages during a jousting tournament.

First, here's the blurb, to get you familiar with the story:

A snarky Faery princess, a Scottish knight with a gambling problem, and a murderous earl all add up to one thing: Trouble. Maggie's medieval education never prepared her for life in the Middle Ages!

Do-gooder Maggie Chase throws her thesis out the window when she wakes up in the arms of a hot Scottish knight. When she realizes she's somehow ended up back in time, she embraces the persona of Lady Margaret. But she may be in over her head when she realizes she has to keep the sexy knight alive during a jousting tournament in order to get back to her own time.

Sir Finian "Finn" McCullough is a gambling man and owes a very large debt to an evil earl who is after his family estate. When the beautiful and outgoing Maggie arrives in his bed, he can't remember tupping her the night before and thinks she's a spy for one of his neighboring clans. He intends to find her kinsman and return her safely but he can't resist her charms, her smart mouth or her sex appeal. Instead he keeps her close, taking her with him to an important jousting tournament—one he has to win or lose his castle forever.

I bet you're wondering how I came up with the idea. It was actually born of my love of the Middle Ages and sexy knights who jousted. I mean, what is hotter than a man on a horse with a big stick?

So I set out to write this book back in, oh, 2005. You'd think it wouldn't take five years to write a book but this one was special. Initially, it was a straight historical with a romance but when it wasn't working for me for various reasons, I decided to ditch that idea and throw in a modern heroine and a faery princess that has magic.

But I digress. How the book came about is an entirely different post altogether.  (

When I set the book during a jousting tournament, I scoured books on jousting and banquets and the Middle Ages. It was great reading. Because of the setting, I knew I wanted to actually write some jousting in the book. So I had to learn how to do it myself. Short of getting on a horse with a stick, that is.

Naturally, I watched A Knight's Tale over and over. For research purposes, don't you know. It was a hard job but someone had to do it.

Anyway, I found some great books on how to joust. My heroine is actually the one in the hot seat. You're probably wondering how a modern heroine ended up in a jousting tournament but you'll have to read the book for that. *grin*

Here's a little snippet featuring Maggie, my heroine, jousting:

Glancing up at the wooden pole, it wiggled in the air, a direct result of her hand and arm muscles shaking from both angst and fatigue. With sweat rolling down her face, she turned her attention once again in front of her.

In the center of the lists near the tilt, the list marshal stood. Lord Litonshire himself, the vile beast. She scowled and stuck out her tongue, knowing no one could see her. It made her feel better.

Litonshire glanced from her to the opponent and back again. She waited agonizing moments until at last he snapped up the flag, signaling the beginning of the match. The knight three hundred feet away kicked his horse into a full charge.

And then the world seemed to pass into slow motion. Maggie was acutely aware of the knight and his twelve-hundred-pound horse charging forward, aware of the dirt clods his steed kicked up behind him, aware of the loud din of the crowd all around her, and very aware of the sudden sick feeling clenching her stomach. She swallowed the rising bile. She would not throw up. She could do this.

Firmly in the saddle, feet in stirrups, cling to the horse with your knees and for God's sake, don't fall off.

Geoffrey slapped the destrier's rump and bellowed a roar of good luck as the stallion took off at a full gallop. With the lance wobbling in her right hand and the reins gripped so tight her left hand ached, she held her breath as her heart beat a wild tattoo. Her opponent lowered his lance, pointing it directly at her torso. It occurred to her she ought to do the same, but the lance wobbled in her hand. Her muscles refused to cooperate with her.

Grasping it in her hand and biting her lip, she did her best to lower the lance. It trembled in the air, back and forth, as she struggled to keep it steady. She managed to tuck the end under her arm, holding it close to her body. Every muscle tensed and she made sure she clenched her knees around the heavy beast under her. She was so intent on keeping her lance steady that when she looked up, she saw her opponent's pointing lance only a few feet in front of her.

She gasped and squeezed her eyes shut as the lance struck her square in the chest, splintering and raining shards of wood all around her. With the reins gripped in her hands, she snapped backward, holding on for dear life. The horse reared, making his discomfort known and whinnying loudly. The blow was so hard she lost control of her own lance and it fell from her hand, unscathed. A loud cheer went up from the raucous crowd, only adding to the roar in her eardrums.

Gritting her teeth, she forced herself to release the reins, letting them go slack in her hand as the horse slammed his front hooves back on the ground, jarring every bone in her body and rattling her back teeth. She fell forward, panting heavily as fear coursed like acid through her. Leaning against the neck of the horse, she patted his mane, cooing soft words to calm him. What transpired in only a few seconds seemed like a vast eternity to Maggie.

Will Maggie live through the joust and save the day? You'll have to read the book, available now from Ellora's Cave!

Michelle Miles writes contemporary, paranormal and fantasy romance. She has always wanted to be a faery princess and finally married her very own knight in shining armor in December 2010.
