Joan Mayans Planells va néixer a Eivissa l’any 1974, entre hippies, pagesos i blocs de formigó.

Format en antropologia social i en història contemporània, ha perdut mitja vida dedicant-se al màrqueting, la consultoria i la comunicació digital. D'aquí surten dos llibres d'assaig: Género chat i Sota un silenci amb mil orelles que inicialment eren d'antropologia del futur i ara potser són arqueologia del futur.

Després d'anys de recorregut acadèmic i professional, ha arribat a la conclusió que la literatura de ficció és la millor forma per entendre la realitat.
