Today 'Pack Up Your Troubles is released. Harking back to my family again, this is written in memory of an aunt I never knew, but knew of and for all women who suffered in a similar way. Pre WW2 a man abusing his wife was not committing a crime. It was listed as a 'domestc' and usually not even investigated. There were no hostels where women could seek protection, nor much sympathy for any woman running out on her man. Read one woman's struggle to survive and strive for any shred of happiness for her and her children. Harrowing in parts. This is it folks Publication Day ' Love Me Tender.' was written originally 16 years ago and tells of a family in Birmingham (though it could be any city in the uk) fractured by WW2. It is a story of love and loss and the indomitable spirit of the British people. While Kathy works in the munitions she copes day to day with deprivations and shortages and frets about her children evacuated and her husband away fighting. Then into her mundane and stressful life, comes an American tall, handsome and not yet war weary, and she finds herself attracted to him. She resists temptation to be alone with him until one fateful night. As he joins in the D Day invasion, her husband is posted missing presumed dead, When the dervasing war eventually ends they have all been apart so long and with so many different things happening in their lives. Kathy wonders if they will ever gel together as a family.again ?.

Kobo have named the kindle version of 'A Strong Hand to Hold as book of the month for April and so is selling at £1.49.
