I grew up in Manchester, England, where the streets know how to keep secrets. Now I live somewhere quieter, where clouds move without asking anything of me.

The years before were shaped by two very different worlds: the rigid discipline of the military and the restless hum of London’s media machine. Both were places where truth slipped beneath the surface, carrying a weight you were never quite allowed to untangle.

Now, I write, mostly alone, though never without Bob, my rescue dog, whose instincts are sharper than most people’s judgements. We move through the hush and clutter of rooms like a quiet pact, attuned to what remains unspoken.

A Note from the Quiet Desk

When I started Every Silence Has a Price, I thought it would be a thriller about family power. It turned out to be a story about grief, control, and the ways we protect the people we love by pretending not to.
