Rannu Fund HM

My story The Portal Agent garnered an Honourable Mention in CZP's annual Rannu Fund Contest, with a $500.00 cash prize for best speculative poem and story. There is an entry fee, but it's not too onerous, and even the HMs come with a cash prize. I haven't decided what to spend it on yet, although lots of folks have been reminding me how very good chocolate is.

In other news my essay about my experience chairing the jury of the 2010 Sunburst Award is in the April issue of The New York Review of Science Fiction. To my mind the NYRSF beats other review publications hands down. Because it's print authors are given the space to ramble, often with wonderful erudition. Most of the reviews of Canadian speculative fiction I've written for The Peterborough Examiner have been reprinted there.
