“The pain of lost love is as total, as self-obliterating an emotion as the initial ecstasy.”
Lisa Appignanesi, All About Love: Anatomy of an Unruly Emotion

“In my understanding, the women’s movement is first and foremost about memory. It is about remembering the women who lived, struggled, worked and loved before us, including those who we’ve never heard about. The women’s movement is a sense of continuity in time, knowing that you are part of a river, constantly flowing, changing, expanding.
- Elif Shafak”
Lisa Appignanesi , Fifty Shades of Feminism

“Love takes hostages. It gets inside you. It eats you out and leaves you crying in the darkness, so simple a phrase like ‘maybe we should be just friends’ turns into a glass splinter working its way into your heart. It hurts. Not just in the imagination. Not just in the mind. It’s a soul-hurt, a real gets-inside-you-and-rips-you-apart pain. I hate love.”
Lisa Appignanesi, All About Love: Anatomy of an Unruly Emotion
