Hi, all,
I'm Mickie Sherwood. I love my romance novels sweet like pie and tastier than parfait. So, that's what I write.
I enjoy taking pictures. I mean, snapping them. I'm a little camera shy. Taking nature pictures in my own backyard is one of my favorite pastimes. Traveling is great, also, although it's been awhile since my last jaunt.
Louisiana Hot Sauce (M/C PG13) is my debut novel. Mesha Rayburn's horrific childhood secret drives her into seclusion in the Louisiana backwoods. That's where helicopter mechanic Jack Connolly rams into her protective wall of security. Nicked Hearts (M/C PG13) just released in time for Valentines. Dr. Nick Hart finds himself drafted into sentry duty against his will all the way to Maui. K.C. Mickie Sherwood here. It’s yum-yum time again! Hubby made a Sunday dinner request I could honor. This time it was for Beef Porcupines. Not too hard or time consuming. So, okay. Ingredients out. Pots and pans visible. Camera at the ready. Then, the groaning started.
“Guess I better find something to snack on. I can see this is going to take a while.”
I couldn’t help but laugh because he read all the signs. And—yes. It was Saturday’s, Sunday dinner preparations and my version of Beef Porcupines.

He bolted out of the shower at the shrill noise, clumsily tucking the bath towel at his waist. His entry into the living room evaporated every good thought she previously had about his character.
“What’s wrong?” he asked, alarmed. A new venomous look entered her eyes. “What is it?” he repeated.
“You-you deceived me, Jack,” she accused, snatching the tabloid up to wave under his nose.
“Mesha, it’s not what you think. I promise,” he begged.
“Men are all the same.” She panted to avert an explosion. “How much will your silence cost me, you slimy bastard?”
Her jerky motions signified a woman at the end of the rope she wished she could wrap around his neck. “I want to help you.”
“Good. Help me by getting out, Jack.”
“But—”
Her contemptuous look scorched him like sweltering delta heat.
“No buts. I want you gone before I get back. Get…the…hell…out!” Mesha stormed as she exited in rebellion.

His whole body stood in the deep recesses of the stainless steel wall unit hiding him from view. K.C. seized the opportunity to set him straight.
“Zeke, you owe me an apology.” Another bang sounded and her bowl clattered to the granite island. “I can’t believe you fell for his trickery. He’s nothing but a con artist.” Flakes skittered into the ceramic dish practically filling it to the rim. The cellophane crackled as she folded it down to prevent staleness. “It’s bad enough you deceived me but to encourage him.”
K.C. heaved—a mind clearing breath— slapping her palms to the counter with an exasperated shake of her springy loose curls.
She skirted the island to retrieve a spoon from the drawer. The move put her back to the open refrigerator door. “Make yourself useful and give me the milk.” Her extended arm waited for the handoff. It came and with it a trilling sensation her father could in no way induce.
K.C. fought the feeling as the fingers holding the carton curled her wrist in the switch. They were long, strong and very capable of reducing her to quivering jelly, just as they did at that very moment. She hallucinated really badly due to medication. That had to be it. Nick was not standing in her kitchen sporting her father’s sweats and slides.
“We need to talk.”
On the other hand, his apparition spoke to her in his soothing baritone timbre. She unhooked her arm and backed away.
“I’m not leaving here until you forgive me.”
“Then you stay. I’ll leave,” she quipped and proceeded to follow the words with action.
Will K.C. forgive Nick’s misguided lies?
