Rickey Powell is an author from Upstate South Carolina. His debut novel, Unit 000, blends supernatural mystery, family, grief, and hope into a story about the powerful connections that can reach across time.

Inspired by his son, Miles—who is also the heart behind the novel’s main character—Rickey writes emotionally driven stories that explore love, memory, and the mysteries we cannot always explain. He shares his life with his beautiful wife, Lindsey, and their three other children. When he isn’t writing, Rickey works in information technology, spends time with his family, and enjoys working on classic vehicles.

Behind the book

It took me almost 7 years to finish Unit 000. Within that time, I was working endless hours, taking care of my family and writing off and on when life gave me a little time. When I lost Miles back on Jun 22, 2026, I felt that since this book was about him and his quest that I had to honor him and keep going and finish.
