Knight Takes Queen
I had one of those really good days where my story suddenly all fell into place. I never know where things are going when I start writing, so I just write. This has been going on for a few weeks with Dominic in charge. Well, today, the full cast of characters showed up and positioned themselves in book 3. Yesss! Such fun. By the way, Dominic is being incredibly nice to Kate. It's charming to watch.

Book 3 - Dominic and Kate
I'm busy working on the final book in the Dominic and Kate story. I am working like mad to make my deadline. Dominic is keeping me entertained.

Thank you and eek to technology!
I'm having trouble navigating some of the goodread sites. Technology is not my friend. A couple of things: when I try to answer a blog comment--nothing happens, although I've apparently managed to do it before; so if someone has requested something or asked a question and I haven't answered, it wasn't intentional. Sorry about that. And since this seems to be my only outlet at the moment, I'd like to thank those who gave Knight's Mistress such nice reviews. I'm delighted that Dominic and Kate have engaged so much interest.I just heard an interview with Hilary Mantel (Wolf Hall--absolutely fabulous)and she said of her main character, Thomas Cromwell: "As a writer you only have to be fair, you don't have to be neutral." Since I'm living, sleeping, breathing Dominic and Kate at the moment I understand how impossible it is to be neutral about them. What I'm hoping to do as a writer is portray them fairly in all their manifold complexities. And of course, hedonist that I am, have fun doing it!

New book
Finally--I've finished revisons and my latest book Knight's Mistress will be published in the UK December 6. I'm using a pen name: C.C.Gibbs. This is book one of the All or Nothing trilogy. It's a Fifty Shades style story and was great fun to write. The two main characters are Dominic Knight and Kate Hart. Dominic is young, handsome, wealthy, not familiar with the word, no, and since the death of his wife, uninterested in women other than for sex.
Kate Hart is a hot-shot forensic accountant recruited from MIT by one of Dominic's lieutenants. Dominic rarely interviews applicants but in the press of events--a plane is waiting to take Kate to her first assigment in Amsterdam--it falls to him to offer her the job. Rather cooly and brusquely as it turns out.
Kate refuses. She has several other offers.
Since the word, no, doesn't exist in Dominic's world, he's at first startled, then intent on changing her mind. He's single-handedly built Knight Enterprises into a global empire, he's one of the wealthiest men in the world and he always gets what he wants. And he needs Miss Hart in Amsterdam.
Theirs is a volatile relationship.
Hot, hot, hot.

Back to work.
The holidays are over and I'm finally getting back into the groove. I've been working hard and having fun with my deputy sheriff, Jack Morgan, and my new heroine, Jillian Penrose. They've just officially met for coffee and despite their best efforts to keep things on an even keel, cool and polite on this first meeting, the vibe is quickly racheting up into the red zone. She's a widow with a young son, not Jack's usual type. And since his divorce, he's going strictly casual in his relationships. Really, I'm thinking. We'll have to see. Writing fiction is so much fun!

I'm getting my learner's permit.
I didn't know about this blog. But then I'm computer-challenged. I've been looking at some other sections of Goodreads as well as my e-mails for a couple of months now but hadn't seen this blog. Someday I'll actually know what I'm doing. So--hellooo if this reaches anyone. I feel like an alien on a strange planet talking into the ether. Although I suppose it's not so different from living in my fictional fantasy world the last thirty years. Anyway--once I learn how to navigate this site I'm looking forward to 'talking books' with you'all. Right now I'm breathlessly waiting for Tom Rob Smith's third book to be published. It's been delayed for several months...aargh. So I've been re-reading Dorothy Dunnett for the umpteenth time and seriously wishing time-travel were possible. Her heroes are unbelievably fine.
