TREASON
A Spy Among Friends: Kim Philby and the Great Betrayal
I write about the Revolutionary era and recently completed a book GOD SAVE BENEDICT ARNOLD. God Save Benedict Arnold: The True Story of America's Most Hated Man
Reading Ben Macintyre's excellent account of the British WW2 and cold war spy Kim Philby, I was struck by the parallels with Benedict Arnold. Ask either man why he did it, and you would not receive a clear and convincing answer. The ways of betrayal are mysterious and always interesting.

CONNECTING
I'm very excited to finally get going on Goodreads. In December St. Martin's Press will publish my latest book
GOD SAVE BENEDICT ARNOLD: The True Story of America's Most Hated Man.
Tom Clavin described the book as "A full and fascinating portrait of a true hero of the American Revolution . . . riveting." Matthew Pearl called it "a fascinating page-turner."
In a time when statues are coming down and historical icons are being questioned, a new look at America's most famous traitor is overdue. If you think you know Benedict Arnold, this book will make you think again.
I urge all readers to check out my Substack newsletter, which offers free history essays and updates on my work. Find it here:
