Interesting career as an environmental engineer, mostly in manufacturing. Fairly decent chemist! I a history buff and so enjoy (and write) historical fiction, of which "The Good Harvest" is best...see it on Amazon. I am also a futurist, and I think the must disruptive technology in the next five decades will be biology...this makes a good stew in which to brew SF stories. See Smart Kat or Good Insurance for two good long books, both on Amazon.

IMHO, it created a demand for good stories in our minds, and passion fora good yarn is still there.

So, Story is king. Make sure you can tell a story. For instance, try reading aloud to friends or children. (Hint, this is performance). If they like it, good. You are a storyteller. Now, expand on that.(less)

It’s a Romp

It has more magic in it than science, but for a quick fun read it it’s OK.
I think Heinlein said to a primitive man turning a light switch looks like magic. Well, Mr. Williams sure took that to heart.

Good not great

Was interested in main argument for cognition. Meh, quite disjointed. Couple of interesting chapters. A grumpy editor would have benefitted Ms. H.

A Romp

Suspend your disbelief and just enjoy the romp. I think stuff like the chemistry may be poof-presto, but who cares.
