Ian Kingsley has written 3 novels and an eBook, as detailed on his website: iankingsley.com. Prior to this he published 5 non-fiction books (under a different name) and he worked as a publications manager for several decades. His social media focus is on Twitter as @authorkingsley where he tweets daily to over 35K followers. These tweets are replicated on his website.

His latest novel, 'The Grave Concerns of Jennifer Lloyd', published in March 2016, is about a feisty - but vulnerable - television presenter who aims to make her name by unexpectedly revealing a murder live on-camera; which, of course, is not without its risks! Early reviews include comments such as “A powerful, compelling read that’s hard to put down,”(Midwest Book Review), an

If you've note even started anything, then why not check out film review summaries in TV papers for the germ of a plot idea? I'm not talking about copying anything here, only in the most fundamental seeds of ideas. You can then build on something, but put in a lot of change. I've never had to do this, but I offer it as a possible solution if you don’t know what to write. You should always be seeking a new angle, so that’s worth a lot of pondering. Then, of course, there’s the newspapers. There are a lot of seeds to be found in those. If one excites you, write it down in a notebook. It could be the seed that will propagate into a new novel in many years’ time!(less)

But that also means you have to be really organised and plan what you are going to produce. Do it efficiently. The worst thing is that ‘being a writer' doesn't pay the bills any more than 'being an actor' does. And at least an actor knows he'll get paid if he gets a part, whereas an author sails into the unknown for a year or more - without a promise of landfall!(less)

INSPIRING WORD: A Message for Agnostics

[BROADCAST on my Radio Show INSPIRE on 30th August 2018]

This is a message for agnostics. But before I begin with that I’d like to give a dictionary definition of an 'agnostic' so we’re clear what we’re talking about. An agnostic is: ‘A person who claims they cannot have true knowledge about the existence of God - but does not deny that God might exist’. In other words, they allow that it is possib Read more of this blog post »
