K.L. Nappier Book Events Tampa Bay Area: The Grand Central Lit Crawl

K.L. Nappier at the Grand Central Lit Crawl
Saturday, July 16th, Starting at 4:00 p.m.
Grand Central District, St. Petersburg, FL
Book Events Tampa Bay Area

book events tampa bay area copy

Kathy will be part of one of the quirkiest and most fun book events in Florida . Or, at least, book events Tampa Bay Area style! She’ll be reading at the Sawgrass Tiki Bar at 7 p.m. during the Grand Central Lit Crawl. And as book events in Florida go, no place is better suited to host a pairing of great readings with adult beverages than the Grand Central District of Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, Florida.

The Grand Central Lit Crawl, put on by Wordier Than Thou, matches up four unique bars in the Grand Central District of Central Avenue in St. Petersburg, Florida with popular local writers of the area. Readings and pub crawls go together like Hemingway and Sloppy Joe’s. Like Kerouac and the Flamingo Bar. Like Jimmy Buffett and Margaritaville. Clearly, book events Tampa Bay Area style have their own flavor…often with a salt rim.

The pub line up for the event is:

The Queens Head Eurobar- 4 p.m.

The Old Key West Bar and Grill – 5 p.m.

The Community Cafe – 6 p.m.

The Sawgrass Tiki Bar – 7 p.m.

And as book events in Florida go, no place is better suited that the Grand Central District of St. Petersburg. Bicycle and pedestrian friendly, the district is home to a diverse variety of locally owned eateries, antique sellers, galleries, bars and eclectic shops. A breeze to visit using the Central Avenue Trolley, the Grand Central District runs from the 1600 block to the 3000 block of Central Avenue, and the nearby parts of First Avenue, both North and South.

St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay Area have a large and impressive literary community that includes Dennis Lehane, Kris Radish, Christopher Buehlman, Jeff Strand, Richard Lee Byers, Sterling Watson and, of course, K.L. Nappier. And St. Petersburg is fast becoming one of the hottest spots in the tri-county area for quality arts, culture and book events in the Tampa Bay Area.

If you like off-kilter, entertaining book readings in unique bar locations, you won’t want to miss this. Keep visiting KLNappier.com or the Grand Central Lit Crawl’s FaceBook Page for updates.

K.L.Nappier at the 2016 SunLit Festival, St. Petersburg FL

nappier, sunlit festival,klnappier.com46 events. 24 venues. 10 days of intoxicating “Litertainment”!
The Sunlit Festival: A Celebration of Literary Arts, March 4-13, 2016

This unique happening sprung into existence in 2015 and has already grown beyond expectations. Kathy is thrilled to be part of the new Dark Arts author track during the festival, and will be featured at two events. To learn more about them, go to the Dark Arts Event Page and the SunLit Literary Pub Crawl Event Page at SunLit’s FaceBook Page.

There are few literary festivals quite like SunLit, spread across days and downtown St. Pete venues, with an array of events for every literary taste and age group.

Check out Lucha Libro: Live Literary Combat, where four pairs of daring Tampa Bay Area writers will have five minutes to create a literary masterpiece from a random prompt and move on to the next round. Only one will emerge alive…literarily speaking.

The Dark Side of literature might not have cookies, but there will be wine. The Dark Arts: Authors of the Horror Writers Association Shine a Light on Dark Fiction and Horror, hosted at Wine Madonna, promises a darkly intriguing conversation with best selling and award winning authors and screen writers of supernatural thrillers, horror and dark fantasy.

Or spread your blanket, uncork that bottle and let the St. Petersburg Shakespeare Festival offering of “Cymbeline” transport you to theater as it was in the 17th century.

Be a literary rebel and join the Citywide Read and Write In. Bring a picnic, your favorite books or tote some notepads to a campy and digital-free space created by Special Guest Camp Unplugged.

Be part of the story of Through Our Eyes, when students from the Pinellas County Schools’ Journeys in Journalism program conduct live interviews of their families, capturing the history of their communities in the process. One generation learns from another.

Could you ask for more? Well, there is more. Lots more, including eight days of family friendly story time activities. Explore them all at SunLit.org

And, of course, visit right here as news develops on Kathy’s events at SunLit.

K.L. Nappier at Wordier Than Thou’s Tampa Bay Book Fair

wordier than thou

K.L. Nappier at Wordier Than Thou’s Tampa Bay Book Fair
Saturday, November 7th
2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Park Station
5851 Park Blvd., Pinellas Park, Florida 33781

Wordier Than Thou just might be one of the most unique writers group in existence. It all began in 2012 with the intriguing concept of inviting authors of books, novels and short stories to an open mic format, much like what poets, musicians, singers and spoken word artists have at their disposal regularly. Since then, WTT has built on that success by publishing a literary magazine, producing a radio show and sparking a thriving network of author groups and guilds that continues to grow. Early in 2015, Wordier Than Thou was part of the inaugural SunLit Festival in St. Petersburg, produced by the St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce’s Arts Alliance, an ambitious nine day literary festival that took the Tampa Bay Area by storm.

Now WTT is launching the Tampa Bay Book Fair, a celebration of the local and Florida authors. Free to the public, the Tampa Bay Book Fair will be filled with activities, children’s events, informative panels, food trucks and more.

Kathy is excited to join fellow Horror Writers Association member Russell James, author of Dream Walker and Q Island, on a panel on writing thrillers and horror. Book signing will follow at her author table.
