I find when I write I'm in a different world, just like when I read. It's also very therapeutic. My characters are constantly in my head, so I get a chance to step away from real-world things that might bother me or weigh on my mind.(less)

Honestly, I have the opposite of writer's block -- I can't stop writing! Normally, though, if I'm having a difficult writing day, I'll stop and do something else, a chore or some reading. That usually helps.(less)

Discover Your Master Chakra by Stephanie S. Larsen

Reviewed by Carla Trueheart for Readers' Favorite

I don’t know if I’ve ever been so perfectly matched with a book as this one! Discover Your Master Chakra by Stephanie S. Larsen touched on everything I’m interested in, the science of color, chakras, and connecting all of this with a person’s personality. I was absorbed within the first dozen pages, drawn in through the descriptions of types of chak Read more of this blog post »

“We stand there, quiet. My questions all seem wrong: How did you get so old? Was it all at once, in a day, or did you peter out bit by bit? When did you stop having parties? Did everyone else get old too, or was it just you? Are other people still here, hiding in the palm trees or holding their breath underwater? When did you last swim your laps? Do your bones hurt? Did you know this was coming and hide that you knew, or did it ambush you from behind?”
Jennifer Egan, A Visit from the Goon Squad

“If I had a view like this to look down on every day, I would have the energy and inspiration to conquer the world. The trouble is, when you most need such a view, no one gives it to you.”
Jennifer Egan, A Visit from the Goon Squad

“It was, he thought, the difference between being dragged into the arena to face a battle to the death and walking into the arena with your head held high. Some people, perhaps, would say that there was little to choose between the two ways, but Dumbledore knew - and so do I, thought Harry, with a rush of fierce pride, and so did my parents - that there was all the difference in the world.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

“The scar had not pained Harry for nineteen years. All was well.”
J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

“On the day the tree bloomed in the fall, when its white apple blossoms fell and covered the ground like snow, it was tradition for the Waverleys to gather in the garden like survivors of some great catastrophe, hugging one another, laughing as they touched faces and arms, making sure they were all okay, grateful to have gotten through it.”
Sarah Addison Allen, First Frost
