DUNCAN SIMPSON nasceu em Paris. Obteve o seu BA em Estudos Europeus na London School of Economics, e o seu MA e PhD (2011) em Estudos Portugueses no King’s College London. A sua tese de doutoramento, financiado pela Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian, focava-se nas relações entre a Igreja Católica e o Estado Novo salazarista entre 1928 e 1968. Tem leccionado em vários cursos de história contemporânea na Nova School of Business and Economics (Portugal) e na Université de Bretagne Occidentale (France).
