Please Don't Add My Short Stories to My GoodReads Profile

Hello spooky babes! I know a lot of people are finding me after the amazing Book Fair and I’m SO glad you’re here, what an absolutely fun time we had! I appreciate you all so much and I hope you like my stories and come back for more!

I do need to note something: please, please, PLEASE DO NOT ADD TITLES YOU PURCHASED AT MY BOOTH TO MY ACCOUNT! As a querying author I am trying to keep my GR profile looking clean and professional, and the short stories I sell at the events are not on my GR profile for a reason.

Please do not misunderstand me, I am excited that you’re excited about my stories and I am overwhelmed with love and joy for your excitement, but they are short stories - NOT NOVELS - so they do not need to be (nor do I want them to be) on my profile. I have over 30 published short stories, my GR account would be a mess if they were all on there which is why they aren’t. The only two zines on there are ones from Kickstarter campaigns with high followings, which was done intentionally since I had yet to release my novella when I made my profile. Once something is added to a GR profile it CANNOT be removed, and it is a hassle and pain to try and remove those.

Since I’m querying several manuscripts with various presses and they use profiles like this to gauge an author’s worth (sad but true) alongside other social media platforms, I need to have it clean and curated. So please, PLEASE, be respectful and don’t add things to author’s accounts without permission. If you want a title added, please email the author (ANY author, not just me) to inquire if we are okay with it, and if we are WE will add it so it has the right info, page count, and cover art in high quality if we deem it necessary. Querying is already hard enough.

If you have requests please use my website disturbancesbyalycia.weebly.com to shoot me an email. I do sincerely love and appreciate your enthusiasm and support, but please be cognizant of how these decisions could impact authors. Thank you!

Stay spooky,
A.L. Davidson
