He went on to work as a window cleaner, cocktail barman, wine waiter, clerk, car salesman and a guitarist/backing singer in a rather hopeless rock band. Eventually, he got his act together, studied Law and at 28 owned his own law firm in Queensland’s far north. After nine years in the tropics he became bored with constant blue skies, gently swaying coconut palms and scuba-diving on the Great Barrier Reef, so he sold up and moved with his family to London. He practised there ...more

That way, I get another 24 hours to think up what might happen next. I guess that's the answer to writer's block for me.(less)

Zaman Ali
“A society without democracy is a society of slaves and fools.”
Zaman Ali, ZAMANISM Wealth of the People

C.S. Lewis
“The truth is, I think, that while death (mine, his, everyone’s) was often vividly present to him as a subject of anxiety and other emotions, it had no place in his mind as a sober, matter-of-fact contingency from which consequences could be drawn. At any rate the conversation was a failure.”
Lewis C. S. (Clive Staples), Surprised by Joy: The shape of my early life

William Carlos Williams
“Love without shadows stirs now beginning to waken as night advances. The descent made up of despairs and without accomplishment realizes a new awakening : which is a reversal of despair. For what we cannot accomplish, what is denied to love, what we have lost in the anticipation— a descent follows, endless and indestructible . Listen! — the pouring water! The dogs and trees conspire to invent a world—gone!”
William Carlos Williams, Paterson

William Carlos Williams
“No defeat is made up entirely of defeat—since the world it opens is always a place formerly unsuspected. A world lost, a world unsuspected beckons to new places and no whiteness (lost) is so white as the memory of whiteness .”
William Carlos Williams, Paterson

Lewis Carroll
“She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it).”
Lewis Carroll, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland / Through the Looking-Glass
