Asteroid Adrift
Imagine being Hilary Nova or James Caleb. Imagine finding yourself in a deserted place after a major accident. Imagine that you have no way out. Imagine having to rely only on people who traveled with you, strangers that you don’t know or know anything about. And to top it off, imagine that you don’t even know anything about yourself.
Asteroid Adrift is primarily a love story about two people finding themselves in a lost situation. There’s no plane or island in this story, but a space shuttle and an asteroid instead. Hilary and James will have to battle to stay alive, but their biggest battle will be internal, in spirit and mind, because nothing happens by chance, there is always a reason for everything…yes, even for a shuttle crashing into an asteroid drifting in deep space. No, not lost. But adrift.

It’s release day for Asteroid Adrift! Check out the video below for a flip through! And my Substack newsletter for preview pages.
You can order it now at spots like Amazon or digitally through Kobo!

ThunderBoom!

On May 28th I was on an online video panel hosted by NYC shop Books of Wonder on Great Graphic Novels For Middle Grades. I was interviewed along with several other authors and gave a reading from the book. You can see the video reading and interview here.

ThunderBoom was released May 2, 2023, published by the great folks at Kids Can Press. With beautiful art by Claudia Davila, ThunderBoom is a story near and dear to my heart…about Logan, a non-verbal kid with a fertile imagination who faces his fear of masks…by becoming a superhero. Here’s a peek at the cover, along with order links with more details: Amazon, Indigo, Barnes & Noble, Book Shop, Diamond (for comic book stores) and from the publisher, Kids Can Press.

And here’s the blurb from the online book shops for more detail…
An action-packed superhero story about the power of imagination.
In this exciting graphic novel, Logan is thrilled when his parents tell him they’re all taking the train to see the Santa Claus parade. But Logan isn’t like most 11-year-olds – he can’t speak, and he mostly lives in his head. On this adventure, Logan must face some of his greatest fears: masks, dogs and the unknown. When he’s separated from his parents at the parade, Logan goes where he’s the bravest version of himself – his imagination. Transforming into superhero ThunderBoom, Logan is determined to stomp his way through any challenges.
Eisner-nominated author Jack Briglio tells an entertaining story about the challenges faced by those who are developmentally delayed, nonverbal or both. Claudia Dávila’s dynamic art brings Logan’s real and imaginary worlds to vivid life and will appeal to comic book and graphic novel fans. This is a terrific title for focusing on social-emotional learning, self-management and self-awareness. It’s also an appealing story for teaching empathy and character education lessons on courage, compassion, inclusivity and tolerance.
