Frank Mundo reads The Brubury Tales for Paper Crane Books’ Podcast Series
I’m proud to be the featured writer today for the podcast series at Paper Crane Books.
If you have a few minutes come listen to me read “The General Prologue” to my novel-in-verse “The Brubury Tales”.
The best part is you don’t have to read anything. Just sit back listen on your computer or download the podcast to iTunes. The Brubury Tales is a 65,000-word poem written entirely in rhyming verse. Come hear The Brubury Tales the way it was meant to be experienced.
The Brubury Tales is a modern version of Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales set at a hotel in Downtown Los Angeles just after the 1992 riots. Over the course of one night, seven graveyard-shift security guards hold an impromptu storytelling competition for Christmas vacation time.
In The General Prologue, we meet the story’s narrator, a security guard named J.T. Glass. Elected judge of competition, J.T. sets the scene, introduces his coworkers, and lays out the rules of a contest that, before the night is through, will challenge their friendships and forever change their lives.

Poetry and Parenthood
I was on the Carving a New Path podcast with Andrea Hylen of Heal My Voice. This was Episode 7: Poetry and Parenthood. We talked about the journey my wife and I took from trying to conceive a child to what led us to foster and then adopt two kids — and the poetry this journey inspired and which were later published in my book, “Touched by an Anglo” (Kattywompus Press).
