Dust Jackets

Am currently reading The Stranger in the Asylum by Alys Clare, book published by Soho Press. The book front has the same artwork as the dust jacket, wonderful in case you lose the dust jacket. NEVER lose dust jackets.
Just read an article about someone who inherited first editions of Agatha Christie books and threw away all the dust jackets. At auction the brought a pretty sum, but not nearly as mu Read more of this blog post »

Peril at End House by Agatha Christie
"While this was my first time reading this novel, I was not unfamiliar with the story. As with many AC books, I watched the David Suchet series during its first run and again about 5-6 years ago. Having said that, I couldn't really remember whodunnit," Read more of this review »
Point Deception by Marcia Muller
"Not a bad story, but this book was written too recently to get away with tossing in racial slurs without the support of the plot. Not quite fun enough to be a light read, not complex enough to be gripping. Also, why do the heroines always have to be " Read more of this review »

You can't call yourself a liberal and not love this book. It shots from the hip and names names. Loved it. It had a good mystery too. Liked the nice mentions of OR, I do believe VT and OR are soulmates.
Highly recommended, especially if you enjoy Carl

“The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts.”
Bertrand Russell

“I thought to find it in the Christian Church, but the dogma sickened me, and the whole foundation is built upon a fairy-tale. Christ Himself is a figurehead, a puppet thing created by man himself.”
Daphne du Maurier, Jamaica Inn

“I looked you up, Arkady. You have a checkered career."
"I'm flattered. I was unaware of having any career at all.”
Martin Cruz Smith, The Siberian Dilemma

“I've always loved strong women, which is lucky for me because once you're over about twenty-five there is no other kind. Women blow my mind. The stuff that routinely gets done to them would make most men curl up and die, but women turn to steel and keep on coming. Any man who claims he's not into strong women is fooling himself mindless; he's into strong women who know how to pout prettily and put on baby voices, and who will end up keeping his balls in her makeup bags.”
Tana French, Faithful Place
