Hi, I’m Jason H. Finck, a long-time resident of Western Pennsylvania. I currently live on 59 acres of farmland with my wife, three teenage sons, and a multitude of animals including beef cows, pigs, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, cats, and a fat beagle named Chunk. I have enjoyed writing stories over the last decade, publishing my first children’s picture book titled “Mayhem and a Monster…A boy’s adventure with his cat” in 2023 and my second book titled ”My Horrible Halloween Costume Conundrum” in 2024. I write amusing and exciting picture books and chapter books that utilize rhyme and repetition for children, targeted at the first-, second-, third-, and fourth-grade reading levels.

I write amusing and exciting picture books and chapter books that utilize rhyme and repetition for children, targeted at the first-, second-, third-, and fourth-grade reading levels.
As a student in the early 1980s in the above-stated grades, I did not always enjoy reading due to its many challenges. Some of my favorite books to read as a child, due to rhyme, repetition, rhythm, and plot craziness, included Dr. Seuss stories, Curious George stories, Amelia Bedelia stories, and Richard Scarry's Nursery Rhymes. As I advanced to chapter books in later years, I enjoyed old-fashioned adventure books including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, and the Original Box Car Children Books. Now, as a children’s book writer, I try to create stories that encompass the same reading strategies that helped me overcome my reading difficulties as a child: rhyme, repetition, rhythm, plot craziness, and adventure.
I draw my stories' inspirations from reminiscences of my own fun-filled childhood and the childhoods of my three teenage boys. Some of my best memories are of my time spent both as a child and as an adult at the family summer home along French Creek. Days were full of activities that included playing in the woods and fields and swimming, fishing, and canoeing in the pond and creek. Nights were filled with wonderful and scary tales told by my father around a campfire, followed by eerie excursions into the dark night with my cousins and sons.
Recently, I’ve teamed up with my storytelling father, Henry J. Finck (Hank). Using my father’s past notes and story creations, with a little editing and some added text, my reading friends can expect two new, soon-to-be-released children’s books. Get ready for “The Day the Eggs got their Easter Colors”, a beautifully illustrated 42-page chapter book, March 2027, and Bean’s for Breakfast and a Trip to the Zoo, described as a comical, slightly naughty children’s picture book that kids will love, June 2028.
