Lee Harvey Oswald was practically convicted before LBJ arrived in Washington DC, on Air Force One straight from Dallas, as the new president.

Oswald claimed he was a patsy. Over the years I have come to believe that claim. So who killed JFK and why?

Over the years I have come to see that the mystery is in our minds. Read my novel, "The Dangerous Dream," if you really want to understand the non-mystery surrounding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.(less)

Imagineering the Next Novel

It's time to start a new novel. But, then again,
I'm not under contract. I don't have to crank out copy. Maybe I can wait leisurely for inspiration. How realistic is it to expect people beating on my door, trying to sign me up, trying to buy my works, now that The Dangerous Dream has been published?

I'm not talking about this year. But by next year, if there is going to be any word-of-mouth publici Read more of this blog post »

“And here face down beneath the sun
And here upon earth's noonward height
To feel the always coming on
The always rising of the night”
Archibald MacLeish, Collected Poems, 1917-1982

“I saw the spiders marching through the air,
Swimming from tree to tree that mildewed day
In latter August when the hay
Came creaking to the barn. But where
The wind is westerly,
Where gnarled November makes the spiders fly
Into the apparitions of the sky,
They purpose nothing but their ease and die
Urgently beating east to sunrise and the sea;”
Robert Lowell, Collected Poems

“Tell this to ladies: how a hero man
Assail a thick and scandalous giant
Who casts true shadow in the sun,
And die, but play no truant.

This is more horrible: that the darling egg
Of the chosen people hatch a creature
Of noblest mind and powerful leg
Who cannot fathom nor perform his nature.”
John Crowe Ransom, The Complete Poems Of John Crowe Ransom

“Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.”
Robert Frost
