As a teenager, Fiona took two career aptitude tests. The first said she was unemployable, the second returned only one result - coroner. She decided to ignore both (and give up taking aptitude tests) and instead became in turn, an Australian diplomat, foreign and trade policy consultant, theatre producer, home schooler and writer of books articles and plays (and sometimes several of these at once).

She has lived in seven countries on four continents and visited another 20 or so. She now lives in Düsseldorf, Germany, where she writes and directs plays for the theatre company she founded - Blue Goat Theatre.

“To the untrained ear, fear is in the sound of a footstep, the breaking of a branch, the heaving of a chest. But only a bad thief makes those sounds. To hear a practised thief you must listen for the sound of the blood in his veins as it carries to his extremities; the only sound that cannot be hidden.”
Fiona Leonard, The Chicken Thief

“As long as you can keep it from your throat, having evil walking by your side has its benefits.”
