When you think of what's best in life, what fills your mind? Is it a moment of kindness? A favourite meal? A lover? A parent? A child? A personal achievement? Or is it anger? Hate? An argument? Fighting? Hurt?

How did the pollsters get it so badly wrong? Why did the mainstream media miss out on the issues that shaped these votes?

I'm no fan of Donald Trump and I think it's sad that these were the two best candidates the Republicans and Democrats had to offer. However, personal feelings aside, looking at the conversations taking place on social media and the stories that have dominated the alternative news, there seem to be a number of underlying reasons for a Trump victory.

Our computers, tablets and phones don't just give us a window on the world: they're doorways that also allow people in. The anonymous nature of the Internet means that we will often not know the true identity of people we might interact with on social media.

"The market has decided this is my stuff," won't work for much longer because there soon won't be enough people with jobs to support a market. The next phase of the history of stuff might be, "We all get the same stuff," but that sounds suspiciously like socialism, which can't possibly be right...

Reports coming out of Brussels and Washington suggest that the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, otherwise known as TTIP, has been crippled, possibly killed, by Brexit. Informed sources suggest that TTIP will be parked until Britain's Article 50 negotiations have been completed and that there is now a possibility that the deal will never be concluded.
