News for November 2016.

Hi everyone,

Just a small update.

I’ve finished the latest Ishmael Jones ‘Death Shall Come’. And it’s been sent off.

I’ve been reviewing the notes for Night Fall, which I’ll be starting next.  Now, when I plot a book it normally runs maybe 10 to 20 pages.  The rough plot for Night Fall runs…. 47!  I did joke at one point that it might run to 1000 pages. Maybe that’s not so much a joke now!

News for Sept 16

I’ve almost finished the new Ishmael Jones book (book 4). A quick polish and it’s off the publisher.  I’ve started to plot the next one, which is the last (so far) I have a contact for.

I’ve also been scribbling notes for Night Fall, it’s looking like it’ll be around a thousand pages and have a cast of hundreds… So I think some large scale editing may be called for!

Nothing to report on the Sony/Nightside project. I’ll post when things start to happen.

News for June 2016.

Hi everyone,

sorry for not posting for a while!

I’ve been tied up with a number of projects and now I can reveal one of them.

I’m very limited in what I can say, but I’d like to announce that I have just signed a deal with Sony to develop the Nightside books for TV.

I have no other information at this point as things are at a very early stage. But I thought you’d all like to know.

January 1, 2015

January 2015 News.

Happy New Year everyone.

There will be some changes to the site in the next few weeks, I hope you’ll all like the new look.

I’ve just agreed contracts for three more Secret History stories. These will be the last in the series, but more on that later.

Two of the three titles have been announced before, but the third is new.

DR DOA.

There is  a man who gets away with murder. A man who specialises in removing the problems from other people’s lives, by killing the people who cause those problems. He operates from the darkest shadows of the hidden world, coming and going unseen. No-one knows who he is; just his nomme du muerte, Dr DOA.

MOONBREAKER.

Did you ever wonder who killed all the Droods at The Other Hall? Did you ever wonder what he would do; when he came to this world?

NIGHT FALL.

The Droods have had enough. They invade the Nightside, to bring it under their direct control,  and make everyone play nice. You realize; this means war.

Those will end the Secret History series (and maybe the world!).

I have no dates for any of those yet. But if  Penguin keep to the current schedule there could be one every January until 2018.

I really never intended to get into long series (but thank you all for continuing to read them).

From now on I’m going to be concentrating on writing single novels and the odd trilogy. But I’m not saying that an old face may sometimes muscle a way in.

I hope to be in the US once or twice in 2015.  There will be more information as things are confirmed.

I hope you all have a great 2015.

April 5, 2014

April News.

Hello everyone,

I’m seeing my agent at London book week on Tuesday next.  I’m going to be pitching my new 6 year plan (yes, 6 years!) for new books.

If that doesn’t finish him off I’ll post all the info I can over the next few months.

I’ve the next three Secret History books (mostly) plotted and the next one (mostly) completed. More when it’s finished.

And now, an odd one in a section I’m calling, ‘Only in the publishing industry’

Last years I completed a stand a lone book titled ‘The Dark Side of the Road’.  The publisher turned it down, a second publisher turned it down (can you see a trend forming here?).

Anyway, somehow it got sent to the guys that do the audio versions of my books… They liked it and are producing it for audio!  Now this is a first for me.  I’ll have a book that’s available on audio but which can’t be bought in paper or E book!

More soon,

Simon

June 8, 2013

June news.

Hello everyone and sorry for the long delay in getting a new news piece out.

As you may know we’ve been working on a movie!

Judas Ghost is finally complete and is being sent out to studio’s and sales agents.

As soon as there’s some positive news we’ll let you all know.

In other news;

I’ve handed in the MS for Property Of A Lady Faire.

I’m now working on the fifth Ghost Finders book, Voices From Beyond, about a haunted local radio station.

I’ve also completed a long short story(!) with John Taylor in the  Nightside. My first Nightside in a couple if years. The story is called ‘The Big Game’. It’s with my US publisher for inclusion in the Nightside collection.  We have no date for this yet.

There will also be another short story collection, which will have a new Secret Histories story, soon.  More on that when I get some info from the publisher.

And just out the latest Secret History and a short in Reimagined, set in Oz.

And that’s about it…

December 11, 2012

December News.

I have had a number of requests over the last year(s) for more info on short stories, well here we go…

A new collection of old shorts.

My publisher has agreed to put out a collection.  This will be all Nightside short stories, PLUS a new short novel/novella, written especially for the collection.

I have no date for this and I haven’t even started the new story yet, but we hope for some time towards the end of next year.  More when I’ve competed the short…

And as if that wasn’t enough…

A new collection of old shorts, part 2.

A second collection, this time of all non-Nightside stories, including the early ones, which will be an e-book collection (only); again including a new novella, probably a Shaman Bond.  Again, no date as I haven’t begun the new story yet. This will take some time as some the older works are not even in electronic format! We are hoping for a release sometime next year. More later.

And that’s it for news this month and this year.

I warmly wish you all a very happy Christmas and an amazing new year. See you all in 2013!! (unless the Mayans were right and the world really does end on Dec 22!).

Simon.
