Surviving the World

The teenage years are interesting, and challenging enough for parents. Exhausting and rewarding. But to have a teenager that suffers from any form of Mental Illness, on top of 'normal teenage behaviour', can at times be an overwhelming feat.

So, I am taking the challenge, to write an epic tale, through the eyes of a young lad, filled with all the trials, heartbreak and milestones, living with the silent predator that is Mental Illness.

Am I experienced enough? After all, my writing passion is psychological Romance........The Given, my first paper baby is certainly a world away from this project,....

But! Living with my 13 year old son, and facing all his battles beside him, I say Yes!! I am certainly ready, (and 10,000 words in..) the commitment has begun! Terrified and excited beyond belief!

My desire and goal for writing this book, is, 1# Necessity ...I feel if I don't get it out, I will explode. 2# Sharing... It took me a couple of weeks, to really get, that what my son was going through, was not 'normal' behaviour.....if I can get just one person reading this book, and saying...OMG...this is what my child is doing....then maybe, just maybe, I can help them, get the help they need for their family. At the time of our 'Hell'...I had no idea what was going on....it was a black hole of helplessness. 3# Perhaps educate the ignorant, that often say about adults and children alike with depression or anxiety....'They need to toughen up'....or.. 'Get over it...' Constantly blows my mind. 4# Entertainment!!! Of course, with any tragic or heartbreak through our lives.....humour is what saves us...and this project will be raw, perhaps painful...(for me, for sure...:) ), but will also have twists of humour throughout!

Wish me luck!

Warmly, Mickey!
