After an award-winning print journalism career spanning nearly two decades, Mary Abreu left the newsroom to pursue her passion for sewing. Her first book—Little Girls, Big Style—was published in 2010; her second book, Modern Style for Girls, is due out in October 2015. Mary also works as a seamstress with a boutique movie production company and has wardrobe department credits on two short films, including The Candy Shop, starring Doug Jones. She enjoys attending pop culture conventions, where she is a regular presenter on the topics of pattern drafting and hacking, costuming for children, and historically influenced costuming.
