Launch Day!

Today's the big day! My debut epic science fiction novel PYRAMIDS OF MERIDIAN is released. Reviews have been coming in and I'm happy to say many are positive.

It's been quite an adventure getting to this point. In college, I transitioned from meteorology to art. Then music came up, and DJ Komet was born. The dream was to become a world-renowned traveling DJ and producer of the harder styles of dance music. Yea, that didn't pan out (despite some mild success, check Youtube for example). Also dabbled in programming and game design.

Anyways, after graduation in 2013 and a year of living in mother's basement, I needed a day job. Tennis called to me and I heeded said call. Over the years I became quite proficient at teaching all those hardy strokes to a variety of clientele. Tennis became my main career, and I currently oversee a large junior tennis program up in Chicago.

For most of that time, I was writing on the side with another dream, a vision of becoming a successful sci-fi novelist. This desire to write novels was triggered after graduation by a combination of coming up with stories for videogames, and a literal dream I had of myself seeing my books in a bookstore. I just gave it a go one day and boom I was like...here we go. It sort of all happened in tandem with my music world.

I do think and hope that I learned from the mistakes of Komet (doing everything solo was NOT the way. Design, mastering, marketing, etc. I'm not that talented). I've gotten help with PoM (Pyramids of Meridian). Editing, more editing, beta readers, marketing/promotion, etc. We'll see how it goes this time 'round.

Join me on my newest dream and follow to keep up to date with my literary endeavors. If you like epic, dense space opera with big themes and mind-blowing twists, then PoM is for you, and most likely my future novels. Let's ride.

Promotion and Marketing in 2023

I'm fortunate to have a day job and the sense to save that is allowing me to heavily invest in promoting my upcoming novel Pyramids of Meridian, a space opera epic that contends with the reality of an afterlife. Amazon ads, Net Galley and other ebook promotions, Instagram Boosts, etc. I'm doing it all. Frankly it's all with the hope in the slim, should I say, basically impossible chance, that Pyramids will do well enough where I can offload a lot of my hours in said day job as a tennis instructor and program supervisor, and turn my focus to other endeavors that I dearly want to dedicate more of my time too. I like the ole day job, but it is very time consuming and requires a lot of hard work (I'm an introvert so that doesn't help, and my current career requires a lot of that big extraverted energy).

Writing for a full time job has been a dream of mine for a decade. But another dream has come into play, a social app idea that has a lot of potential, that keeps nipping at my focus. It all comes down, at this point, how well this novel does business-wise which will guide where my career goes. And with how intricate its plot is and how grandiose the prose, the chances are even smaller. The one iota of hope for great success is how mind-blowing and unique the story is, with strong characters with relatable arcs in a world that we all wonder what will be like: the veritable fricken afterlife.

I know so many authors deal with the same thing. And apparently blogging is a part of this, a subject I have little interest or experience in, but here I am hoping, so here I am blogging. Good luck to Pyramids of Meridian, releasing September 1, 2023. See you out there.
