Ray Bradbury, Mr. Electrico, and Me
It’s Ray Bradbury’s birthday today, so here’s a thing I wrote after he died.
There are people who you may never meet, but still have a profound effect on you. There are people who can reach through time and space to touch you, and change you forever, sometimes only with words. Sometimes especially with words. Ray Bradbury was one of those people for me, and probably for a lot of people.
Many people publicly expressed their feelings about Bradbury after his death on June 6, including Pres...

New Year, New Announcement
I’m happy to announce that I started the year with two short story sales. My story, “The Last Cloud Painter,” will be appearing at some point in the future in Asimov’s magazine. I’ve been working on this story for at least 10 years, though I couldn’t quite figure out the ending until a year or two ago. The idea for the story came to me in a dream. I’m so glad that it will finally be seeing print.
I also sold a story, “Voices Singing in the Void,” to Clarkesworld magazine. I’ve been trying to...

Your Ticket to Hell
So first of all, let’s just acknowledge that I am terrible at updating this website (and for following through with advent calendars). As I come to terms with managing my ADHD, I am becoming aware of all the ways I overcommit. It’s doesn’t get any easier to not want to start new things, but I am at least aware.
But that’s not the good news! I have a new story out, my first in over a year. It’s called “Your Ticket to Hell” and it is currently available at Fantasy Magazine. It’s a short one (m...

2019 Song Advent Calendar — Day 5
So maybe I was a bit ambitious to commit to this project with everything going on in December…
BUT…
I’m trying to get back on track. I only have the following rough demo to offer for tonight but will post more tomorrow to try to get back on track.
If you’re following all of this, thanks for all of your patience.

2019 Song Advent Calendar — Day 4
I’ll make this short since I’m just getting this in under the wire. This one is called Come Lay Down with Me and was written 25 years ago (which should be taken into consideration). This was also the first song I ever wrote for another person.
Hope you like it.

2019 Song Advent Calendar — Day 3
This one is short, simple, and sad. It’s called The Rain is So Cold. Another one I recorded quickly, but still planning to crank these out for another 3 weeks…

Song Advent Calendar – Day 2
So this one’s a bit rough, and my guitar doesn’t sound so great, but I wanted to make sure I got today’s entry in. This one is called Time’s Running Down. It had its start about 10 years ago, but it was only last year that I completed the song and I’ve been fiddling with the middle eight, but I consider it the start of my new bunch of songs over the past year or so.
In any event, hope you enjoy it.

Advent Calendar 2019 – Songs ( Day 1)
Those who have known me for a while, or have followed my site or my now defunct livejournal know that I love advent calendars. I’m not religious — I’m not even Christian — but I’ve always loved Christmas, and I’ve always found advent calendars to be somewhat magical. In the past I’ve done my own, several times with original fiction, short flash pieces for each day leading up to the holiday. The thing is, I’m at a point in my writing career where I can’t just rattle off a short piece in a day...

Card Sharp Reprint is up at Lightspeed
I have been traveling lately, so I’ve been remiss in reporting that Lightspeed has reprinted my story, “Card Sharp,” in their latest issue (August 2019). They will be publishing the third story in the sequence, “All In,” in September, so now all three stories are available on the Lightspeed website. They don’t need to be read in order, but all three tell one extended arc. The stories and links are:

A plethora of podcasts
For those of you who have been around for a little while, you’ll know that I started a podcast back in 2017 with Devin Poore called Spirited Discourse. It’s a simple premise — we get together with fellow creatives or fellow geeks and talk over drinks and record it. After a long absence after our first season, we’re back with Season 2 of the podcast. Two episodes have already gone up, episode 1 with Theresa Delucci where we discuss Game of Thrones (pre-season 8), Red Dead Redemption 2, and Th...
