Multiplex 10 is here… the animated short AND the web series!
Multiplex 10: the animated short is now available on Vimeo On Demand! At long last, the “origin story” of Kurt and Jason’s friendship (or most of it) has finally been told. I’m really proud of what we were able to accomplish on the short, despite the very limited budget (relatively speaking), and I hope you do, too.
IF you do, a Multiplex 10 web series has just launched, as well — and you can watch that FREE on the Multiplex 10 site, YouTube, on Vimeo, and on Facebook. The web series will feature short vignettes, primarily with Kurt and Jason shooting the shit about movies, as the series progresses and the audience grows (and the funding along with it), we hope to be able to do more complex stories, too.
PLEASE check out the Multiplex 10 website to learn more about both the short film and the web series!

Multiplex 10: the web series is coming!
Thanks to over 100 backers at the Indiegogo Second Chance campaign, we’ve raised a healthy budget for the Multiplex 10 animated short’s release, film festival submission fees, and other promotional expenses — including all-new animated videos featuring some of the staff of the Multiplex 10 Cinemas. In other words: Multiplex 10 is going to be a web series.
Now, the web series will be a little different from the animated short. Because the budget is much tighter, they’ll feature a limited cast (only Jason and Kurt at first) and only be a minute or two long. At least one of them will run between 2–3 minutes, because that’s what the second Indiegogo stretch goal was for, but not necessarily the first one. In other words, a little like the thank you video above.
Over time, and with enough funding, we’ll hopefully be able to bring back some of the other cast members from the short, as well. But this is uncharted territory for me, so I need to start small. This all feels very much like the early days of the comic strip, which is really exciting to me.
There is still time to throw your support behind the Indiegogo campaign! It ends in a little under TEN HOURS. So head over
You can also help support the production of the web series (as well as the production of Multiplex bonus comics for the collected editions) by joining my Patreon, buying stuff from the Multiplex 10 Store, or renting or buying the Multiplex 10 short through Vimeo On Demand!

Multiplex 10 Indiegogo Second Chance campaign launches TOMORROW at 11am
Hello, Multiplex fans!
The Multiplex 10 animated short has completed production and will be released on January 29, 2018, via Vimeo On Demand. I’m incredibly proud of the short, and I hope you enjoy it. As you probably know, while the short film stands on its own, it was also conceived as a pilot for a Multiplex 10 series, and in order to have the best possible chance of turning the pilot into a series, we need to have the widest possible distribution.
Toward that end, we’re launching an Indiegogo Second Chance campaign TOMORROW at 11am Eastern that will help do two main things:
Produce a Multiplex 10 branded USB card preloaded with the short, so that we can sell the short on physical media, such as at conventions.
Help offset some of the costs of submitting the short to film festivals, distributing the film digitally, and promoting the film, all of which adds up super quickly.
Every penny beyond the $2,000 base goal will mean we can promote the short better, submit to more festivals, and produce promotional materials supporting the release. At $4,000, for instance, we’ll produce an all-new, 2–3-minute Multiplex 10 “webisode” featuring Kurt and Jason (and maybe some other familiar faces), which will be released free online.
But you haven’t seen the short yet, so how can you know you’ll want more of it? I hear ya. So along with the launch of the Indiegogo campaign, I’ll be sharing an exclusive preview of the first scene from the short!
With the release date of the short fast-approaching, this will be a quick one — the funding period will be only TWO WEEKS LONG. So don’t hesitate!

Hello! If you’re in the area, come meet me at Wizard World Philadelphia with Phil Kahn of Guilded Age. We’ll be at Booth 1702. NOTE: I will only be there from June 2–4. No Thursday preview for me.

Multiplex 10: the animated short is now (officially) in pre-production
Thanks to 572 generous backers, Multiplex 10: the animated short has raised over $19,000 on Kickstarter. After payment processing and Kickstarter fees, this amounts to a production and distribution budget of $17,000 and change — still very low-budget for animation… but we have the resources to make it look and sound excellent.
We’ll continue to look at other avenues for helping fund the distribution of the short, but now we have a firm production budget: we’ll be producing the animation in 2K. (This will make it easy to output the animation in 4K should we get additional funding later.) And while it was part of the $20,000 stretch goal that we didn’t reach, we’ll make room in the budget for that 5.1 surround sound mix.
Thanks to my awesome cast and crew, Dana Shaw, Joe Dunn, Tom Brazelton, Chris Rager, Javier Prusky, Tangelene Bolton, Ian Vargo, and our most recent addition Aiyanna Wade for helping spread the word on the project throughout the funding period.
From here out, I’ll be posting about Multiplex 10 mostly on its official site rather than here on the Multiplex site, so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for comics and news over there! And if you backed the Kickstarter, I hope you’ll be following along in the Kickstarter updates, too.
