Hi. I have published a trilogy of YA, paranormal action books in my JASON WILLOW series. My current work in progress is a YA fantasy set on in a prison for magic users.

I am also working on a near-future, dystopian film script and a strategic board game.

I fit my writing around working for an educational charity in Hertfordshire.

I have trained (badly) in various martial arts over the years but now I play the less painful sports of squash and tennis in sunny Hertfordshire, UK.

You can catch up with the latest book developments and thoughts here and card game rules and links here

I really hope you enjoy following Jason and his companions and/or Will and Bridget as they battle... oh you'll see.

I've managed to secure more time for writing recently so here's what I'm up to:

1. Reformatted and lightly edited the Jason Willow trilogy - new version on eBooks everywhere and coming to paperback by end of July 2025.

2. Withdrawn my two Battle books after hiring the HUNGER GAMES and HIS DARK MATERIALS publisher/editor, Lisa Edwards. Lisa gave me an in-depth developmental edit which has led to many changes to the story, not least of which is to re-focus it as young adult. The new version will be re-branded as Deadlock and sees the story expand into the magic-users' prison lands and get a tad darker. I am aiming to get Deadlock 1 out for Halloween '25.

3. I'm finally building a website, theredbuttonpress.com, which will have lots of freebies for my three creative endeavours - fiction, games and learning hacks. This should be up and running by the end of July '25.

In the meantime, I'll keep you up to date here on Goodreads and on https://www.facebook.com/RedButtonPress .

Cheers for now.

Start Digging
So this is it - after 24 years of teaching in secondary school I have two years funding to dig my way to... something else (hence the blog title - younger readers might need to Google "Colditz escape tunnels".)

It's a bit of a shame I didn't make it to 25 years service - we used to get a £50 M&S vouche Read more of this blog post »

"This book is a Great read, and I would recommend it for ages 13+. It has a great stroyline that kept me hypnotised .Not only is it great for people who like action packed stories, it also contains some bits of romance, humour and suspence. "

"It started with gusto & I couldn't put the book down until they got to the so called safe haven of Darkston Wick & Silent Hill School. Too much irrelevant detail for me made my interest wane & I struggled to get back into it for weeks. I felt at this" Read more of this review »
