Jeffrey P. Shafer was born in New York City and raised in the Washington, DC area. His first book, Our Game, was written in 2021. During his career as a successful business owner, he started teaching entrepreneurship courses at a women’s college. Following the sale of his business, Jeff started working as a high school and club volleyball coach. He was inspired to write a novel about the acceptance of women into professional sports after listening to the hopes and dreams of his students and athletes. Jeff currently resides in Cleveland and San Diego.

Is There a Difference?

Is there a difference coaching girls sports teams vs boys sports teams? Research I have conducted seems to indicate that there are similarities across the coaching spectrum that many (but not all) coaches agree upon:

1.     Girls differ in some ways emotionally than boys when they play team sports. 

2.     Girls compete differently than boys. 

3.     Girls should be coached differently
