Book Baby: Check; Real Baby: Check
The transitioning of the seasons here in Geneva, Switzerland has accompanied long-awaited developments in my personal life as an author and mommy.
The concept for my debut novel, My Refuge, was conceived in the same month as my third child, and while one grew in my mind and the other grew in my womb, my heart could barely contain my excitement over what was being created! I work well under pressure, and the deadline was clear (although a bit mysterious and unpredictable!): write, edit, publish, and promote my book baby before the birth of my real baby.
The challenges and joys of pregnancy were familiar to me, but everything about the publishing process was completely new. I still haven't gotten the hang of marketing, but by God's grace, my book was launched into the world before it was time to meet our sweet boy.
Now, does anyone have any tips for researching for and writing a sequel while navigating the fog of life with a newborn? ;)
