I write stories about tomorrow to help make sense of today. Artificial Wisdom, my debut, was published as an indie and has recently been picked up by Penguin Random House. It was re-released with some extra content by Del Rey in the US, and Bantam in the UK/Commonwealth, in 2025, with the sequel Infinite Wisdom following in November 2026.

Aside from writing, I’m a tech entrepreneur. My last startup was acquired by Just Eat Takeaway; my new one is still in stealth but backed by a major Silicon Valley tech accelerator. I also invest in multiple early-stage startups.

Despite all that, I never thought I’d use my degree in Computer Science. I left university to run the UK branch of one of the world’s largest student organisations before spending m

I get over that by setting myself impossible deadlines with external accountability! And to also apply a drafting mindset: it's not about perfecting it on the first draft, but about building the story up over time in layers, like a painting, from the outline sketch to the broad brushstrokes down to the finer detail. So if I'm stuck, it tends to be with the blank page, so I make sure I'm just sketching it all down. A few words, here and there. A bit of dialogue. Then I block in the major bits: the setting, the conflict, the characters, but without too much detail. Then I leave that for a bit, and when I come back to edit it, I'll start to refine the ideas, the order, the motivations, the word choice, where the commas go, everything in more and more detail until it's done.(less)

If this character lives, what would happen? What if they died? Which one are you going to choose? When you make a good choice and you hear a reader gasp aloud... that's a great feeling.(less)

“That, of course, was the thing about truth. Those who hid it always believed it was colored in shades of grey; those who revealed it always saw the black and white.”
Thomas R. Weaver, Artificial Wisdom

“They flooded Silicon Valley with money until a computer was in every pocket. Then they funded the invention of social media to track everyone, to know what they liked and believed. Then they corrupted those beliefs, played them back to people in their own echo chambers. And slowly, humanity became polarised. It was us and them, and neither side was able to even listen to the other without prejudgement.”
Thomas R. Weaver, Artificial Wisdom

“That was the thing about the truth. Sometimes, you were judged more harshly for revealing it than for concealing it.”
Thomas R. Weaver, Artificial Wisdom
