I understand they have some fine tapestries in the castle of Florin City.

If I'm allowed to travel to the worlds of my own books, of course I'm always trying to visit medieval Spain through literature, art, and architecture. I'd love to visit Medina Azahara during its heyday and check out the gardens and the wacky mercury pool. I want to witness the way medieval people lived in such lovely buildings and ask them what's on their minds. I'd love to help them prepare a meal, too. I would hope it was a return ticket, though!

The alternate Providence in which ten percent of the population has a Talent, from Awash in Talent, would be even scarier than medieval Spain. I would hope no one mistook me for a psychic or a firestarter and take me away to a holding facility! I'm not registered because I don't have a Talent, I swear! (less)

They spend most of the novel apart, which may have contributed to more than my fair share of long-distance relationships in my real life, and near the end of the book, there are a couple of misogynist paragraphs I crossed out when I was thirteen years old. But with all that True Love, there really is no other couple than Buttercup and Westley. (less)

Photo of the Year, 2022

The Photo of 2022 shows that most beautiful sight for any author: one's book in a bookstore.
Specifically, in December of this year, I saw (and snapped a photo) of the Spanish version of my dear short story collection, Our Lady's Troubadour , for sale in the local section, clearly visible from the street, at Mil Hojas Bookstore, Zamora, Spain.
Massive changes in the book industry in the las Read more of this blog post »

“It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.”
Maurice Switzer, Mrs. Goose, Her Book

Elie Wiesel
“The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference. The opposite of art is not ugliness, it's indifference. The opposite of faith is not heresy, it's indifference. And the opposite of life is not death, it's indifference.”
Elie Wiesel

Steve Jobs
“Here's to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They're not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
Steve Jobs
