The Moment Start With What If Became Real

I’ve spent the past year shaping a book around a simple idea: one question can change how you see yourself, your choices, and your future.

Today, that book—Start With What If: Weekly Questions to Spark Immediate Change and Growth—officially appeared on my Goodreads author page. It’s a small thing, but seeing it live makes this whole project feel real.

The book offers 52 weekly “What If” questions designed to help you pause, gain perspective, and take one small action that leads to real change. It’s not some theory. There are plenty of self-help books like that. Start With What If is about taking action and creating better options and results in your everyday life.

I can’t wait for readers to dive in and find their own “What If” moments when it launches on January 6.
If you’d like to follow along, hit “Want to Read,” and you’ll get a reminder when the book is out. Thanks for being part of this journey—this really is where the fun begins.

Feelings, Emotions, and Results Oh My

The Day Makes the Year (Makes a Life): Transform your work and life with One-Day Success
Doug Fleener

Our feelings and emotions play a huge role in our lives and our ability to achieve results. When you feel happy, confident, and energetic, you're much more likely to take action and pursue your goals enthusiastically. Positive emotions boost motivation, help you think more creatively, and make you more resilient when facing challenges. Feeling good fuels peak performance.

In contrast, when you feel anxious, angry, or depressed, it drains your energy and dampens your drive to succeed. Negative emotions narrow your focus, sap your willpower, and make obstacles appear larger than they are. You become more likely to give up when the going gets tough. Tricky feelings like stress and frustration often lead to self-doubt and self-sabotage.

Since emotions are contagious, the collective mood of a team or organization also impacts results. Groups experiencing high morale, optimism, and passion tend to collaborate better and work harder. But environments filled with negativity, pessimism, and cynicism hurt productivity and innovation.

By being aware of how your feelings and those around you influence outcomes, you can take steps to cultivate more positive emotions. Simple actions like expressing gratitude, meditating, exercising, and getting enough sleep go a long way toward fueling yourself and your team with the enthusiasm and energy needed to accomplish great things.
