A ten year old girl reads a sign in the hall of her elementary school advertising a contest for Halloween stories. Inspired by the local Saturday night “Creature Features” show, hosted by Bob Wilkins, she writes a story about a traveling salesman who won’t take no for an answer, and his murderous final customer who drives him mad when the salesman’s severed hand keeps knocking on ever door he closes. Upon reading this story, the girl’s teacher emphatically says, “You need to submit this!”
She submits the story, and wins a stack of books as her prize.
Two months later the teacher asked her to stay after class.

I love writing with
Anthony Slawson.

 He has a poetic verve
that invades my core and inspires me beyond all belief. I have tried in the
past to encourage him to pursue his writing further, and maybe still one day he
will. Today, I am just happy to be the writer he chose to work with now.
