Prof. Jon Mills, PsyD, PhD, ABPP is a Canadian philosopher, psychoanalyst, and retired clinical psychologist. He is Honorary Professor, Department of Psychosocial & Psychoanalytic Studies, University of Essex, UK; Faculty in the Postgraduate Programs in Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy, Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology, Adelphi University, USA; Faculty & Supervising Analyst at the New School for Existential Psychoanalysis, USA; and is Emeritus Professor of Psychology & Psychoanalysis at Adler Graduate Professional School, Toronto, Canada where he taught for over 20 years. Recipient of numerous awards for his scholarship, he is the author and/or editor of over 30 books in philosophy, psychoanalysis, psychology, and cultural studies.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Jon Mills I went through a productive period last year and published 2 edited books, one on the mind-body problem, and another on critical theory in my field of…moreI went through a productive period last year and published 2 edited books, one on the mind-body problem, and another on critical theory in my field of psychoanalysis. The first deals with an age old philosophical problem while the second is an examination of a critique of culture. My co-authored book, Archetypal Ontology, is an attempt to introduce a new theory of archetypes that can be extended into greater questions, of psyche, consciousness, and cosmos where I introduce the notion of psyworld as an attempt to bridge mind and matter in a greater cosmic process. My authored book Psyche, Culture, World is my attempt to distill many of the important philosophical questions such as truth, reality, God, freedom, and determinism through a psychoanalytic existential lens. This is also a prelude to my forthcoming book, End of the World: Civilization and its Fate. This book is being published as a general interest trade book with Rowman & Littlefield and will appeal to all audiences, whether is be the educated lay public, academics, and professionals alike.
