Michael is a web developer by profession. He has a hearing disability, sharing Mary's condition of otosclerosis. Sometimes he’s hard-of-hearing while other times he can’t hear at all.

Aside from that, Michael and his wife, Lani, began their infertility journey in 2016. They started with several failed IUI attempts then moved on to multiple failed IVF attempts. A miscarriage during one of those cycles, combined with frustration about the United States, greatly contributed to the tone of this story.

However, after more than seven years of heartbreak and raising money for donor eggs, Lani and Michael had Declan on August 3rd, 2023. What the future holds for Mary and Davi remains to be seen...
