Try As You Might
What is it? Someone please explain it to me; preferably slowly. Why is it try as you might, no matter how delicate and considerate you try to be; why oh why are people so easily to get offended? Have you ever been speaking and happen to maybe use the word "well" or "So" only to be chastised by an unknown public "why must you use that word so much?"
Sometimes you may pronounce a word a certain way that is not traditionally pronounced in another person's everyday language and before you know it someone has made a snide little remark or comment about your usage. Suddenly you find yourself in the middle of chaos and you're wondering "what the hack happened?"
I've recently learned that no matter how much I try and how careful I am, someone, somewhere at some unknown time will be "offended" by something I said or didn't say or the way I wrote this and not that. Recently I was chastised because apparently my blurbs on my books were too long. I found it utterly mind-blowing because not recently enough it had been brought to my attention that the blurbs were too short and not enough information such as word count was given.
I don't know how many other authors have experienced similar situations like this; but I just thought I would write this blog to let you know you're not alone. Someone long ago wrote: "you're damned if you do and damned if you don't... and you can please everybody..."
The best that I can offer is to do what's in your heart let God be your guide and hope that the masses will feel your heart and know your passion. Whatever you do, don't let it discourage you, just laugh it off and keep on writing the very best that you can.

Why I write...
I penned a post in the thread: From A Reader… Dear Author Don’t Do asking for feedback as to why readers whine and complain about lack of good reads when they are so unwilling to move out of their comfort zone and seek a new book shelf to pull from. However I didn’t want to utilize that space to ask this question especially since it is directed primarily at authors (however everyone can participate and weigh in on the question from their own perspective).
After about a couple of hours of house work, I have since had some time to do my own self-reflection as to why do I write… What I learned from my reflection:
I learned that I thought I was writing because I loved to write and then later on to appease to a particular audience; but after some soul-searching and a few bad encounters with the general public (in real life and online) I found the underlying truth as to why I write. I write basically for the same reason many readers have expressed as to why they read: to escape from the reality of life for a few hours. I write about the kinds of people I would love to meet and interact with on a regular basis. People who maybe slightly confused but are not afraid of growth and learning new things from people who are not like them.
I write about wouldn’t it be great to meet a wonderful significant other who’s not a ‘gold-digging-gigolo-shallow-me-myself-and-I-intorlerable-mean-spirited-rude-selfish-impatient-judgmental-jerk-whorish’ person that isn’t afraid of my uniqueness as a person. I write about a world that I would love to live in where you can really find good people and neighbors who don’t spend their time bickering about two inches of land that you happened to have crossed as you were mowing your own grass. I write about people with birth defects, beautiful people falling in love with people who are slightly imperfect, maybe not too smart but have a heart as big as the moon and is everything they’ve ever wanted in another human being.
I write about people who learn to live in the world that they were born into making the best out of a less than ideal situation. I write about people who can find a small ray of happiness just by reaching out to others with no agenda just trying to pitch in and help a fellow human being. I write about people like me who are passionate about life and stays in the fight despite their knowing it’s a losing battle; but yet their spirit reminds them that “you are allowed to die but not to quit.” I write about the people when life is hard they cry themselves to sleep accepting the fact of waking up facing another day in hopes of a better future for tomorrow. Yup I write about utopian living and what if these people really existed in large masses what kind of world would we all be living. I know, I know I’ve been told more than a few times that I’m an idealist, a dreamer and not so conventional; but I can’t help it if I can imagine the world a better place and I write about those things hoping that when others discover my stories they too began to ask, “hmm what if?” I believe changing the world into a better place starts with a single idea of what if…
So why do you write? I sincerely look forward to hearing from you and why you write...

Sometimes It's Only Sex
“Dude you agreed to be her man whore and let her marry another dude?” Billy asked incredulous to my story.
“A gay man no less…” Derrick added as we finished showering after practice and began getting ready for the show.
“When is she getting married?” Phoenix asked.
“In about two weeks.”
“You’re a much braver man than I am. I couldn’t do it; fake marriage or not. There is no way in hell the love of my life is going to live with another man who isn’t me.” Passion stated infatuatedly. No one missed him glaring at Dino who remained silent the whole time.
“I hate it too man… But what’s the alternative live without her? Face it, men have been doing it for years; married to one woman and having a chick on the side.”
“So you decided to take one for the team, eh?” Tony asked.

Recalibrate My Love Series...
Is kicking off with my very first addition "Sometimes It's Only Sex" The series is being created with the objective for women to take a closer look at the way they love and why do they love the men that they do. The first novel in this series is "Sometimes It's Only Sex", however I have been contemplating adding
to it due to the nature of it's story.
Love can exist in two forms: as a new beginning; metamorphose or continue as it is, let it stand, maintain. It is up to each of us to decide what is working best for us. Do we stay or do we forge ahead with anew beginning? Love is change and change is scary; but so is remaining static.
For all of the women out there who never quite feel like they’re enough. For all of the women out there whose men are leaving them feeling a little lacking and leaving them hungry for more, comes:
Recalibrate My Love presents…
Sometimes it's only sex and we need to ask God to give us the wisdom to know the difference. From the new Recalibrate My Love Series comes a novel about learning to be more than enough first for ourselves and learning to love the me who I am. Meet Princess Aptakisic the rigid college professor and Chris Rock the professional exotic dancer in the highly charged erotic story.
The story Sometimes It's Only Sex, is a love story about a Princess Atakisic a 30 year old assistant professor of a college who falls in love too easily and puts more effort in picking out her clothes than the men whom she allows into her life; and Chris Rock aka Body Language a 25 year old exotic dancer who happens to be raising his 4-year old daughter. For him, women and sex are passe- been there done that. On the outside he looks like the average man and women mistakenly judge him based on the cover. However he's looking for a deeper and more meaningful relationship with a woman; just like he had or better with his daughter's mother before she passed. If you would like, take a sneak peek at this brand new novel as it is in the process of being written. Sometimes it's only sex and we need to ask God to give us the wisdom to know the difference. Me? I'm crushing on my co-worker Todd... shush, it's a secret...
ahaha... this whole secret crush thing has inspired me to write a new novel. It's still brand new and I'm only on chapter 4... It's called "My Mom Your Dad: Happily Ever After". It's about a girl and guy who have crushes on each other and are fated to become siblings when there parents marry each other. If you would like you can check it out. I hope you do and comment liberally on it... ^__^

To Kill or Not To Kill
Hello all:
I don't know how many of you have been following along with the series Taming The Golden Boys of Central High but as you may know I've been slowly trying to push out the 3rd volume in the series.
I thought I was suffering from a case of the lazies or even writer's block; but... but... but... the truth of the matter is I've been trying to resolve within myself the possibility of having to kill off one of the central characters.
Yup it sucks cuz it's one of my favorite characters and one of my favorite couples no less. I won't say if it's a she or a he but someone in the next series will possible die; but will definitely end up in a long, long, long coma. I think it's the only way I can reconcile with myself to finish the story.
Yea I got a lot of flack from my readers of about the unhappy ending of The Princess & The Thug. There was so much hate mail generated that I had to write an alternate ending which has been well received. And I've said it before I am always amazed at the mail I received about that ending, considering the way their story starts. But it makes me feel good as a writer to know that my writing overcomes the beginning and the readers get lost inside of the story and beginning living and breathing with the characters' journey.
Yes, I've started Taming The Golden Boys of Central High: The College Years. I haven't been posting it to my Booksie account, because I live in fear of writer's block. For me as a reader I hate to get engrossed in a story only to have it stuck in hiatus or worse never finished (the very thing is happening to me with another writer's story. I've been waiting since last December for her to put up another part to a very good story I had been following along).
So the question is to kill or not to kill? Hmm that is the question and I guess you will just have to wait and see if she/ or he dies or just lay in a temporary coma for a few months or years.
Thanks for following the series and I hope to have the story up and posted before summer.

Dare I?
Let's talk about sex/ erotic writing. I would like to think that some of the material that I write would be classified as "erotic and edgy." However I'm learning that one author's erotic and edgy sex scenes are merely boring and lame to another reader/ author's perspective. The same could be said vice versa one author's boring and lame sex scenes is another author/ reader's erotic and edgy.
For the sake of a brief explanation I write a lot of oral and anal sexual material; for me that's erotic and edgy. I will say for the sake of my writing I have been researching porn movies and sex website to keep me abreast of new and edgy material. I have to admit that the things that I have been reading and seeing yes... YES in my own eyes my sex scenes would be boring and lame by comparison. Seriously I have seen and read some things that have actually just not only turned me off but... but also... broke the button off to the point that I sometimes find "sexual" content repulsive.
I'm not sure what the point of this blog is. I think I'm looking for opinions and perspective of what is "erotic and edgy" from someone else's perspective. Is the what important as much as the when, where and how? What qualifies foe edgy? What qualifies for erotic? Maybe we should start with some definitions... Got one, I'm willing to hear.
